Today was a road day

Hubby was up bright and early and ready to load the car. We drove from the Minneapolis, Minnesota area clear up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Tomorrow he has a get together with former classmates from his childhood and then Thursday is Independence Day. We will drive back to Minnesota on the 5th. Home on the 8th, or the 7th. I was writing a response to @shaggin on this discussion and realized my response is a discussion in itself. We had four days full of fun both at home with the grands and going places. It takes a mix of both. Those fun days will be the basis of some of my posts coming up. I love how beautiful it is up here. The pines tower way over the roadway. Much bigger than the trees in Kansas. Every little bit there is a lake, a resort, a river, you name it. We drove across the state of Wisconsin today.
My kids and I have been busy all of June doing fun things. Most things were free so it only cost me the gas to get there. On Facebook last week a girl wrote...

@crazyhorseladycx Nope, party was in Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula, almost to Canada. I heard that once a moose got confused and went to Iowa and fell in love with a cow.

It is almost like time travel. Nothing really anchoring us, no real things we must do. We always go to church with the kiddos and the grand kids like that. They are having busy summertime. Lots of visits from us and the other grands.

It sounds like a wonderful time! Recently I met with a woman who drove to meet me in Pennsylvania. She drove here from Ohio to adopt my parrot and she said she loves PA with all the trees. Where she is it's all city buildings etc.

So you rehomed your parrot!! Did I miss discussions about it? Probably. I will need to go read some of your past ones. I am loving getting to see around the country this trip. I definitely prefer more rural and natural spaces.

@LadyDuck I am not sure what all they have in this part of the country. I think some areas we have bear up here. I do not know if they have very many snakes here. In Kansas the poisonous snakes are rattlesnakes, copperheads and water moccasins, but there are other snakes as well. I do not know if we have nutria in Kansas, but probably in Michigan.

It is beautiful up here. Our part of Kansas is not bad, either. What types of animals do you have around where you live?

@GardenGerty Near the lake, ducks, swans, herons, in the woods, hawks, wild boars, deer, ferrets, foxes, nutria, coluber snakes and aspis viper snakes (small, but poisonous).

@Hannihar We went to a few different towns while we were there. One of the biggest ones was Ocean City. I think I enjoyed Assataque Island the most. I love Maryland. So warm!

@Hannihar I haven't been around much during the summer since my kids and I are always out doing something. I posted three recent posts though about my vacation to Maryland

From what I read online they are having torrential rains in Kansas, still. Good to be travelling.

It is good to be away and pack the worries away a bit. New sights to see and fresh air are great as well.

Northern Minnesota's forests are grand so I imagine northern Michigan would be sweet, too.

We plan on it. We cannot always count on the other drivers, though
