Hi My Lot! Tonight I am going to a workout class, which will likely have a lot of younger folks in it.
So I will need to get hip with the lingity. The lingo. The jive.... the.... language.
Though I do admit that it seems like these younger folks (teens - 20s) speak much different than my 37 yr. old ears are use to hearing.
Someone once asked if I got way way over the weekend. She needed to illustrate that she meant drunk.
Also I have come to understand that when someone "can't even", it means that something is so cute, cool or awesome .
Yaaaaaaaaas is simply an enthusiastic yes and AF doesn't mean auto focus or awesome fudge.
lol. So some of it is sort of catchy. Some of it makes me feel like some old relic.
So to illustrate my point, I highly recommend the following clip from the movie "Zoolander 2" :
Derek and Hansel are lured into modeling again, in Rome, where they find themselves the target of a sinister conspiracy. Zoolander 2 scene where Derek Zoolan...

I must run with a younger crowd than you do, Faye... nothing you said was a surprise to me, although I did hear someone say something I had to ask them to translate for me later...
I told a good joke to a group of younger people and one dude told me, "I'm weak!" and then said, "Savage!" It turned out he told me the joke was really funny and then it was "cool"! *shake my head* I try to stay young and "hip" but apparently, even I'm losing that battle.
Edit to add: Uhhh... some still say yaaas, but the newest word out is yeet for an enthusiastic yes! Just thought you'd like to know.

@FayeHazel While the younger people today accept me, I'm not part of their group... they actually call me Poppi... which means Dad. That's how they introduce me (behind my back) to new people to the group.

Lol! You must, indeed. Actually I have noticed that the demographic I get along best with are people in their early to mid 50s generally speaking. Or the people who are now in their mid 20s. Very seldom do I get along with my own age group, though its happened. lol. Go figure.
Wow. I'm happy for that translation. I would have had no idea.
Yeet. Oh that is good to know. I heard that and had no idea

@DaddyEvil Oh dear. Poppi huh? Well that's kinda cute.
Weird thing here is - all of a sudden - I'm seeming to be popular with the young-ish men. I can't figure it out. I'm flattered and all, but their immaturity frustrates me ( I don't want to raise a man-child into a man if that made sense?) …. but I can't figure it. I really can't. Compared with them I'm old and I'm …. well let's not mince words.... I'm fat. It is what it is, to me it's not longer a hurtful word, just a description. They aren't conditioned to find either of those things attractive. I don't get it. Maybe they like my new "I don't care" attitude.

Each era has there own kind of "Groovy" language. So I guess you did not get "blitzed" over the weekend. Sounds like their vocabulary was really "Far Out." And you will have to adapt to this new language? Can you "Dig It?" I hope you can... Peace/Love and time to "split."

Lol. I understood your lingo.
I love "Groovy" , "Totally Tubular", "Far Out". … etc.
Ah yes? Me get blitzed? That's only happened a few times in my life. lol. I'm allergic to fun.
Time to make like a tree and leaf.

I never got along with teens. Even when I was one.....
If it makes you feel better, I don't know many, either :-)

Yeah! "Zoolander" and it's sequel "Zoolander 2" Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Farrel. They are funny, but not brilliant movies lol
