My apples were rung up as peaches at the grocery store

I went to a grocery store and bought some apples. The cashier rang them up as yellow peaches. I did not let her know about it because the store was almost closing and the cost came out cheaper than it would have been had she rung up them as apples. But this got me thinking... Was the item code for the peaches similar to the apples and she had simply made a mistake when entering the code? Or did she not realize what she was looking at were apples and actually thought they were peaches? There is no way that an apple looks like a peach or vise versa.

Some of the more unusual fruits and vegetables can catch out the cashier but you'd think she'd know her apples from her peaches.

I can understand an unusual fruit being mistaken for something else but apples being mistaken for peaches is crazy. One clearly looks nothing like the other.

Some cashiers asked me "which fruit is this" looking at apricots and peaches, you cannot imagine how much ignorant some are.

@lovebuglena It happens more and more than the cashiers asks "what is this?", I cannot believe it.

I remember I bought yellow carrots once and though I kept telling the cashier over and over that it is yellow carrots and that they do indeed sell those she kept on insisting it's parsnip root.

I would have informed the cashier about the mistake.

I would have too but since it was in my favor I chose not to bother.

Yep, that's why didn't bother going back and telling her she made a mistake. Would have definitely gone back if it had not been in my favor.

I would have told her; but she must have been in a hurry and made a mistake with the code.

It was in my favor so chose not to do it. Had it turned out that I was gonna over pay I would have said something for sure.
