Reunion

My husband goes to Crystal Falls every five years, for a reunion with people he did not get to graduate with, and to see family as well. This year they did historic tours of many things in town.
I will say that the town looks more "spiffed up" this year, like businesses are coming back and people care. The first time I saw it, twenty years ago, it was pretty run down looking.
We had tours of their courthouse, and the local theater and a memorial service for those who have passed away. We also had pizza in a bar.
It was great to learn some of the history of the town as well as to admire the fine local community theater. We also went to the "board walk" in one of the parks and also visited Bob's grandfather's grave.
We went up to the observation deck in the courthouse. I took the picture down Main Street.

Actually just that part is flat, as you go further there are a lot of hills. The hills in our town here remind hubby of the hills where he lived as a kid.

@GardenGerty The Italian region where my mother was born is mainly flat. I always had the habit to live near high mountains.

I asked someone while we were touring the courthouse. They said there are about 2,000 citizens. In the past they have had as many as 3,000.

That's just right for me @GardenGerty I like small communities where people are willing to get to know each other.

It was encouraging to see the new business and the repurposing of the old ones. The fresh paint made tons of difference too.

I am pleased to see that it is upgrading. Buildings are being painted and put to new uses.

His parents suddenly moved the family in the beginning of his junior year. He had known them all his life, though and people make a point to have him come to the reunion. I could make a whole post of that, too.

We combined the two trips because it made more sense. I loved breaking up the activities.
