On my own again with food shopping

Hubby called me and told me that after work he is gonna go meet up with his friend. That means I am on my own again when it comes to food shopping. There is a lot that I wanna get and I will have to carry it all myself back to the house. While the store is only about fifteen minutes away from my house carrying a lot of heavy bags myself is no fun, especially when it's hot and humid outside. Not only is it uncomfortable but it is also exhausting and is gonna make me all sweaty. So I don't really have a choice. Either go to the store or buy nothing and try to come up with something to eat from the little we have at home.

Hope you found some great deals. Sometimes when I shop without the wife I save money.

That can be the case with me when I shop without hubby. We ended up saving a little but of course we spend way more than we saved.

@porwest You save more by not buying anything at all.

@lovebuglena Well, at the end of the day, the ONLY time you actually save is when you buy things you need at a discount.

I never paid attention to how much I bought until I moved to a 3rd floor apartment

@NJChicaa Yeah, that would suck carrying all the heavy bags up flights of stairs.

Well, I texted him when he was at work but not sure if he saw it. But he ended up coming home so things turned out good and shopping got done.

Aw that isn't nice of him not to go help you. Would he drive to the store? Couldn't he grabbed the groceries after meeting his friend..

He came home and we did the shopping together. But I wonder if he came home because they agreed to meet up later and he had free time or if he came just to help me. I think it's the former.

I have a small cart to bring heavy stuff home when my husband cannot drive me to the store.

I like Shays suggestion. Leave the cans and boxes in the car for hubby to bring in. lol

I don't drive and we only have one car, which he always uses because that's how he goes to work.

@LindaOHio Yep. Often enough. One main reason is his work schedule. If he ends late and I wait for him to go to the store either the store will already be closed or there will nothing to make dinner out of.

@lovebuglena So you have to walk to the store and carry bags? Well, that's not fair at all!

If it's as hot there as it is here... I would have whatever is in the house instead of carrying it!! I always have something good in the freezer though... just in case lol!

I don't really like to eat frozen food.

You can compromise and just get a few easy to carry things.

I got lucky that he came home before going to hang out so we went to the store together and I got everything I wanted.

Could you find somebody that you could ride to the store with. One of your neighbors could be going to the grocery store.

Not really. Maybe my dad if he were around but he lives like 15-20 minutes away from my house. But in this case, he was away so couldn't ask for help anyway.
