The End

Saw my usual clients today. They were all sad to see the end of our visit. Cake and ice cream at the office. There was only a handful of people there. But it was expected. It was Friday and who wants to hang out at work when your shift ends? Little Miss had a blast. She loves the staff and kept them entertained. Yes, I did cry. I will truly miss my job. But, I am looking forward to finally having time for me. While taking care of others, I neglected me. Time to change that.

I wasn't sure how I would like retirement after 40 years of teaching. It has turned out that I'm enjoying it.

I have had many different jobs over the years. This one was the one that I knew I would retire from. Healthcare is a rewarding field, but also one that can be emotionally and physically hard on a person. I do plan on enjoying the "me" time.

My little one is a bit confused about my not having to work anymore. I will be doing a part-time job come September, but it will only be a few hours a week. Truly looking forward to working that one because it is for someone that is close to my heart. I know I need to do more "me" things. Haven't done that ever. Life is short and we need to remember to take time for ourselves. Now I have time to do that.

@crazyhorseladycx aside from doing a little housekeeping in our own home, I have been a bit lazy. Yesterday the heat index was brutal and I didn't venture outside. We are going to lunch today and then do a little grocery shopping for essentials. Other than that nothing big planned.

I doubt I will miss the cleaning up after others, but the clients I will miss. One of my clients sent me a message and said she missed me already. I had seen her only 3 days ago. Somehow I managed to sleep til 6:30 this morning. Little Miss woke at 5:30 and tried to wake me. Told her to go back to bed because it was too early to get up. She headed back to her room and played quietly with her toys. Well, quiet enough so I could fall back asleep that is.

@LadyDuck she was up at 6:00 today. Gramma, listen, the birds are singing and the sun is shining. Time to get up. Thankfully I had gone to bed a bit earlier last night.

@Marilynda1225 I will still bring her to daycare, but it will be at 8:30 rather than 7:30. She understands that she will still need to go there. However, if I feel we need a day together to go have fun, it will happen!

I have been considering volunteering my time at some point. Many of my clients go to an adult daycare program that I may volunteer my services for a few hours a month. The cake was great! They gave me the leftover cake to bring home. Hubby was happy for that.

I was a Personal Care Attendant. Never wanted to be a nurse. I cleaned for many, cooked meals, shopped, and sometimes helped with people's daily personal care.
