Houses get old too. My husband, who built houses, said that houses should have to be checked at least every 2 or 3 years. My husband died almost 20 years ago and since then, I have not been able to do much remodeling in my house. I have been able to do what I can and mostly, what I must. This bathroom remodeling had to do a lot with my needs for a place where I could take a bath without peril. But 2 days ago, when Leticia was hanging clothes to dry in a small patio, She almost got hit by a loose eave from the store house. So Marco had to come and put some nails and do some fixing. More money to spend Sometimes, like some newbies here, I ask myself what would I do if I got rich. I don´t need a lot of money, but I would be very happy if I could do some make up to my old house. Do you have these problems? Share.

Oh yes. Mobile homes are not easy to maintain and I don't have the money to fix all the problems so I simply keep my fingers crossed.

I thought mobile homes were easier to maintain than the house I have.

No, houses are better quality @marguicha Mobile Homes are more like over grown cars and made from cheap materials which is why they are less expensive.

the pig money, a necessary evil, but that does not buy happiness, however, as help ... I work on several websites to pay a little more daily expenses, sometimes I do well, sometimes not so much

It is true that houses do need to be checked, just like humans and animals. You never know what could happen.

Unfortunately, my retirement pension doesn´t account for the fixing of my house.

Yes. Marco has been telling me about the terrace beams but, for the moment I´m looking the other way.

@marguicha It is better that you look at the beams and you avoid to walk under them.

I am a minimalist, so repair works will have to be done small and easy.

Yes, right now I am having the same problem. My bathroom needs work, and other things. By my husband in the nursing home I don't have the help I once did. It is rough.

@marguicha Getting old is nice but it does present problems. Glad to know you got the tub out.

I live alone and for some times I had problems getting in and out of the tub, specially when I washed my hair. Now that I got the tub out, it is easier to do all that. I´m very happy

If I suddenly got richer, we probably would get into a house that's a little bigger and in a better neighborhood - rather than fix all this stuff up. That being said, we just may be here for a long time, so eventually we will have to make the bigger repairs. My daughter's teeny bathroom is half functioning - the shower has never worked. And our bathroom is having signs of needing major work soon.

I like my neighborhood but I would like a smaller house. I almost never use the second floor.

Better have it checked every now and then to ensure that you will avoid any accidents in case something needs to be fixed.

Luckily we are able to do most of our own maintenance but such things never come cheaply.

@JudyEv I did most of the work at home, including the garden, until that d**n lymphoma and the chemotherapy. Things were never the same after that. And now I have to add age
