Putting together scaffolding

Yesterday we went into Bunbury and picked up some scaffolding which will make the task of altering our shed much easier. You can see the two scaffolds in the photo.
When we got all the poles and panels home, we then had to build them. We were given very few instructions – yellow-ended poles are horizontals, blue-ended ones diagonals – and we’d forgotten what we’d been told by the time we got home.
We were bumbling along when I noticed that there was a yellow paper on one of the panels which gave instructions on how to build the scaffold. From that point on it was easy. You can see the scaffolds in the photo and I’m sure you can appreciate how useful they’ll be.
Today we tied one beam in place so as to drill holes for bolts. Vin's brother came out to give us a hand. You might be able to see it across the opening. We’ve now drilled the holes and taken the beam down again. Tomorrow we’ll weld the whole thing together ready to put up on Sunday.
Now we’re home sitting by the fire and enjoying a quiet drink. It might be early to bed for us tonight.

Instructions do tend to make things easier..I am so unhandy though..that sometimes even with instructions, something is not right. I was building a floor lamp from Ikea several weeks back and could not find where one piece went, I had to wait until my son came down..of course, I don't even think he used the instructions, he could tell by looking how it was off.

Putting things together comes easily to some. We've used scaffolding before but it was years and years ago. I'm glad we found the directions on the frame.

Looks good and I'm sure having the instructions made things a bit easier.

Scaffolds are so handy if you're working up high. Much safer than ladders.

Thanks. We've made the beam now and the next step is to paint it. Then Vince has to move some light and light switches.

I guess we'd have assembled it eventually but it may not have been as safe.

Thanks. It's now the next day here and we're about to go down to paint the beam that we finished making this morning.

Scaffolding makes everything much safer. We've been lighting the fire every evening.

Thank you. We are putting a truss across the top of the opening then removing the central post.
