Oh no! My social security number has been suspended!

While I was at work today, I received three (count 'em, three) calls from the Social Security Administration, informing me that my social security number had been "cancelled" due to suspicious activity. When I got a fourth call, while at home, I badly wanted to "press one" and hear the whole story, but I got cold feet. If I get another call, maybe I'll refer them to @JolietJake, my Attorney. Have you received any amusing scam calls or emails lately? The audio editing on this call (both the male and female version) was really bad. I'm still thinking of selling my soul to the devil and going to work writing good copy for scam artists.

I'd be satisfied with another of his amusing videos, where he smokes a cig and "messes" with the perps.

Our latest calls have been recorded messages so it's pointless to even swear at them. It has really spoilt the game.

Or bots that can't hear me if I call them bad names.

I received two miss calls from a number I did not know. Luckily no one can leave me voice messages because I don't have my voice message set up.

Now that's smart thinking. Sometimes I turn off my answer for a few days. Get so tired of all the garbage. Sometimes I get an important call from an unknown number, that is what my message thing is supposed to catch. I don't have it for scammers to leave messages but so I don't miss real people or businesses.

Did they tell you to go buy gift cards and you could get it back! All of my calls go to voicemail.

I’ve had People try to Scam Me plenty of times, thankfully I’m generally aware when it’s a scam!

@TheHorse Generally it sounds too good to be true, and Social Security will never make those calls, I’ve had a few give me false info all red flags for me!

I just do the same when I get them by email. Who are yours supposedly coming from? What is your equivalent of our Internal Revenue Service?

Wow, what a tacky scam! For a couple of months, I will notice in my junk mail of my email a headline from a fake Microsoft saying something like "We will deactivate your email like you requested". I know that is totally fake and don't touch it. I automatically delete it with all the other junk mail.

@TheHorse I think that Switzerland is a lot better to protect the privacy, I cannot see how people could get our phone number if I did not give personally to them.

@TheHorse Both our landline number and our two cellphones number are private. Only someone who dial a wrong number could dial them, but I do not reply if I do not know who is calling.

I got the exact same calls three times also. So boring. The phone rings all day with all kinds of good news. I let it all go to message and delete most of them.

I also received three calls yesterday about my social security number being suspended due to fraudulent activity. I'm still trying to figure out how one "suspends" a social security number. I hope to have the answer soon. I also received a fourth call yesterday, but that one was in Chinese, so I'm not sure what they wanted to tell me. I'm not quite sure how one can correctly run a scam if the language isn't even the correct language.

We have many Chinese-speaking people here in the Bay Area. I don't know if Mandarin is the most prominent (spoken) language, but I always speak Mandarin when targeting Chinese for my scams. (This is my new job, you know.)

I get more spam email than phone calls. But I still get a scam phone call or two a day, even though I'm on some kind of "no call" list. I think.

I had a guy calling me about my Windows software, and he told me to go to my computer. I kept telling him it was on, and finally he said, “What does it say?” I replied, “It says APPLE, you fraud!”

I have not received any scam calls but then I never answer my phone unless the number shows the name of who is calling and I only have a handful of people who could call me. About the Social Security scam, I can tell you that is certainly a lot of baloney. If my SS number is still active after 20 years in Latvia then were is no way anything like this could be real. I wonder what good it is for them to scam like this.

I'm sorry your Social Security number has been canceled. I hope it won't jeopardize your future payments from Social Security when you retire. I think referring them to your attorney is a good idea. They might leave you alone.

They must, otherwise the scammers wouldn't still be doing it. I wonder if most of their victims are elders.
