Happy Sunday and Health Report - Day 39

Good afternoon. Today has been a total blessing, even a double blessing and the day is barely half gone. Church was totally awesome this morning. I got in a fair number of hugs, talked to several people, and enjoyed a great message. After the service, I knew only one thing, I wanted fish for lunch, but didn't know where to get it. I thought about fast-food but didn't want to deal with the loaded calories. I thought about a restaurant, but didn't want to eat alone, and again deal with the loaded calories. Decided to buy it, but where, several stores flashed through my mind, and I settled on Pick & Save and got my second blessing as I stood at the meat counter. The gal who works in the office was shopping and I got another really great hug, and with what her shirt said, I told her what I would paint for her this coming week. I'm so looking forward to rock painting this week. I also wanted something else that goes great with fish and something I normally don't eat unless it has pineapple in it. Coleslaw. I don't like coleslaw because I don't like cabbage. However, I will eat coleslaw if it has pineapple in it. It's the only way I will eat it. So, I got home and proceeded to get the coleslaw taken care of. What a mess, but I got it shredded in the Ninja. Then I poured in the crushed pineapple with the juice. I was going to grab the mayo but decided to try it before adding it. It doesn't need mayo. It's perfect without it. I saved myself a ton of sodium for lunch as mayo has 100 mg sodium per tablespoon. There isn't any in the pineapple and only 13 in the cabbage. It's a win so far today with my numbers. And speaking of numbers, here are yesterday's numbers. Calories: 1166 Sugar: 37.06 Carbs: 106.36 Protein: 67 Sodium: 1345 Fat: 49.7 Of course, I'm not happy with the sodium, but one thing I won't be buying anymore will be shrimp as it's loaded with it. One serving alone is 370 mg. Way too high. That's my Sunday so far, and my numbers from yesterday. How is your weekend so far? Thanks for reading. Image courtesy of Pixabay.

Thank you. I can always duplicate my lunch and still have good numbers. We'll see how it goes.

Depending what kind, fish sounds really good! Never been a fan of coleslaw, but that recipe sounds interesting. The numbers from yesterday look pretty good!

Except for the sodium. It was much too high for me. I know you have no problem with it. I'm not a fan of coleslaw either, never have been and won't eat it unless it has pineapple in it. This one doesn't contain mayo, so it's even better.

@MommyOfEli2013 I never did either but thought to try it. The mayo is loaded with sodium, so it worked out great.

@just4him Right, except for the sodium in your case. The amount you had yesterday is the amount in one of my shakes (probably more in my shake). But it also has a bunch of potassium. I did catch that in your post, I am glad you can eat it with the pineapple. Never heard of a coleslaw without mayo, but glad it worked for you!

It was indeed a Happy Sunday. Glad to hear about having a great message. At church, the pastor talked about Humility (Mark 11).

@just4him Perfect timing - After the service, we had mentoring about a similar topic. Time and Money. Time wasted cannot be restored. Money wasted can be re-earn. WE need not be complacent. There are more people who need to hear the gospel and be saved. They need to understand the reason Jesus' sacrifice and love.

That's a good topic. Our associate pastor gave the message entitled Amos - Sin of Complacency. The church is too complacent.

Reading labels is a good way to know what not to eat.

@just4him I did that before. And I get tired reading all the labels.

I like coleslaw with pineapple, hubby does not as it is then sweet to him. Fish and cole slaw, that sounds great.

Have you tried fish tacos? That is something I really want to make...and you use a coleslaw or cabbage blend with them. I love them, and often eat them if I am in a Mexican place.

I've never had them. I don't normally eat tacos as Mexican and I don't like each other. Food that is.

Shrimps contain 111 mg of sodium for 100 grams (that is about 3 ounces), you really need to eat a big quantity to pile up 370 mg of sodium, this is a BIG serving.

I was aiming for 1200 calories a day, but I think I will reduce them to 1000. My weight plateaued.

I'm sorry you plateaued. I've been on a plateau this whole year so far. So, I'm doing what I can to get off it. I hope going to 1000 calories works for you.

It was a good day spending most of the morning in worship here at home.. Went to lunch with sister and brother to a Chinese buffet which is brother wanted. I did real good to centering my meal on the hibachi and filling my plate with raw vegetables from both the salad and hibachi bars (I use both as there are some vegetables on the salad bar that either aren't on the hibachi or cut much smaller) I try to make sure I have a rainbow of color with finely chopped carrots, broccoli, purple onion, spinach, cabbage, mushrooms, mushrooms, boneless chicken thighs with just a spoonful or two of rice and egg. While that was on the grill I only got an eggroll and small helping of coconut shrimp and then I had some fruit for dessert. SO I ate healthy for today.

I have to watch my carb intake being diabetic. I have never mixed pineapple with cabbage, that I will try. I did learn, from t.v., to use a dusting of cornstarch and seasoning of choice for fish coating to fry, instead of flour or meal. I will try it one day.

I only put spices on fish, nothing else. Someone made it a long time ago when I was a kid. It wasn't my mother. I don't remember who, but I found I really liked it. Then it had mayo in it too. This time I didn't use the mayo and just let the pineapple juice be the liquid for it. It's perfect. I hope you like it.

I didn't either until someone mentioned it and I looked at the label. I normally check labels before I buy, but being frozen seafood, I didn't think it would have so much. Live and learn.
