I took the old van to work yesterday. It is only ten miles or so. I like to leave the car for hubby as it has air conditioning. Well, about 7 or eight miles from home the car. . . just . . . stopped! I got it over to a shoulder. Hubby never answers the phone, but my emergency road services does. None the less I sat in a hot vehicle, with windows partway down, for about an hour. Hubby thinks it is a fuel problem. A recurrence of something that happened before. I think it is electrical, which has also happened before. We are down to one reliably working vehicle. Hubby will drive me to and from work. He will work a little today. Surgery tomorrow. I have not heard about surgery for my dad for sure, yet. If I am scarce around here, this is why. Talk to you later, gotta get ready to go.

It will be inconvenient with only one reliable car when you are used to having two. I hope it is something minor.

Well that's a bummer & I hope you can get it fixed and it's not too expensive. We have 3 vehicles so if mine ever breaks down I have one to use. Hope you have a good day.

Hubby likes to keep a spare or two. It turns out my fuel gauge is broken. I ran out of gas. However the tow truck driver pointed out that I have hanging steel on my rear tire. Time to get new tires.

No A/C and waiting for one hour in a vehicle is a pain. I wish the best to your husband for his surgery.

@GardenGerty It happened to us with a small Ford car, the fuel gauge broke, he did not run out of gas because I used to check how many miles we made after the feel up, so I noticed that something was wrong.

The more old cars you have the more potential trouble. This ended up being very minor, so I am glad of that.

That does not sound like a good start to the day, hopefully you can get that back running soon and without costing to much.

Well it was actually the end of my day. It turns out that our fuel gauge is broken. It said I had gas, but I did not. I literally just ran out of gas. Having it towed was paid for by my insurance, though.

Sending prayers for your hubby's surgery tomorrow and your dad's. I hope it is nothing seriously wrong with the van and an easy and inexpensive fix.

Auto memberships are invaluable at times like that. I just cannot imagine waiting for almost an hour, that isn't acceptable. I hope that the surgery goes well and that the issue with the vehicle is figured out.

@GardenGerty That is hard. Sorry that the car broke down. What kind of surgery is it? I hope the car gets fixed soon. How are you feeling about your father's surgery? Take care.
