Another wind-driven contraption

As the windmill-driven horse created so much interest I thought I’d show this photo of a toy a friend gave to us. (You can catch up here https://www.mylot.com/post/3300203/a-wind-driven-horse-near-mukinbudin-west-australia if you want to see it and you can see it working in the video clip)
This isn’t the best example of its kind but it’s quite cute. There are a lot of these types of wind-vanes on Pinterest and you can also get free patterns if you want to make one.
The idea is that the whole thing swivels into the wind and when the windmill part turns the little man goes up and down and appears to crank his car. My uncle made a number of these. Some had a man chopping or sawing wood. Another one featured a see-saw in operation. Maybe we should try making one of these. It would be great fun.

Interesting..I have seen many wind driven things that show the direction of the wind and some who make them are very creative..

Aww! So lovely. I have seen this kind in "Home alone" movie. But that's triggered manually and not by wind.

That is so cute. My dad made little yard creations years and years ago. I think that it was to get out of mom's hair!

Do you have any photos of them? We didn't tend to take photos of such things back then, did we? Film was too expensive to waste.

That really is cute and would be fun to see it in action. Took some thought into creating that toy.

It's a bit different, isn't it? They used to be fairly common.
