Intermittant Failure

I have had trouble staying connected to the internet since yesterday at about this time. I could not get on at all this morning. We have been wanting to move the computers and the connection. Also wanting to cancel the land line. Who wants to spend $50 per month for spam phone calls. So I called our provider. They only work in this town one day a week. It will be two weeks before they have room in the schedule to help us out. But the phone is off. And they SAY I will get a credit for missed service. We shall see. So if you do not see much of me, that is why.

Our landline comes free with the Internet connection and all the calls we make to Switzerland and Europe are free using the landline, surely a big saving compared to the smartphone.

A deal like that and for long distance calls surely is worth while.

@GardenGerty I called my mother in Italy every day and I paid nothing using my landline. Should I had used my cellphone it would have costed 2.5$ a day.

I know you'll be keeping an eye on your account to make sure they credit you.

We had trouble all the time and had to restart the modem 5 to 10 times a day. Finally got tired of it and switched companies and the bill went from 115.13 to 29.99. This is for the internet and landline. Seeing I dont have a cell we need the landline. Hope it gets fixed soon.

I got rid of the landline when it was apparent that the company had no way to stop any of the spammy calls, even those that spoofed my phone number (their number!) on their line! Better to pay for just what you want, which for me is just internet.

Hi @Rollo1 I wanted to skip the landline when we moved four years ago. Hubby insisted we keep it. Well a few weeks ago I broke down on the road, and called him on the landline. He would not answer. His phone was turned off as well. The next week he did not answer when his doctor called, OR check the messages. I told him I had had it, and we were dropping the landline. Put my foot down. Yes, that gets rid of some of the spam.

Two weeks seem to be an eternity ! And that their service is terrible to work one day a week.

This is the best service in our rural area and it covers many small towns, so they are assigned different communities different days. They work every day. I accidentally cut my phone line once and they made an exception and came out after finishing all their work in another town and repaired my phone. I have figured how to by pass the problem in my router right now, so I can get on more.

I wanted to. Hubby did not. But when he did not answer and I had a car problem, I decided we could use that money elsewhere.

@GardenGerty it does save and the money was wasted, because it seldom worked.

@Tampa_girl7 This cuts out a lot of spam and political calls for us and saves $50 per month.

We each have a cell phone, so this is a waste in my opinion.

I had the same experience a month ago. I am thinking now of getting another company for internet service. I already confirmed that they had facilities here in our area, the other companies do not have

This is the best company in our area, but our modem and router are old and I think got some storm damage.

Sure hope they can get it done for you even though you'll have to wait a while. All I have is a flip-top cell phone.
