Time to go mow

I keep putting it off today, but I must do some of it.
Tomorrow I will go help my sister with some paperwork after church. She is going to get some mental health help as she has started having panic attacks. The paper work for her first appointment is overwhelming to her.
She is having panic attacks mostly because this lady with dementia, who lives in her complex, is over to her house constantly. Up to thirty times a day.
The lady's family is trying to find her a nursing home placement, but it is complicated because she has a large dog that she will want to take with her.
So Bob and I will go after church. We will eat at our favorite restaurant after church, then we will go to get my sister. I will take her to the public library, because even when I am there, her neighbor is constantly in her business and in her house. She is a nice, sweet, lady, but enough is enough.
Meanwhile I have people messaging me on face book to respond to and work to get done outside. I will see you later.

most sad, i doubt the family 'tis gonna find a place that'll take that lady's pup, too. there'd be none 'round these parts anyhow. seems she's stressin' yer sister out quite a bit ~ bless 'em both.
hope y'all get 't all figured'n yer sis can get some piece 'f mind.

@crazyhorseladycx I have worked in some homes in the past. When I was working at this one particular home, a friend of mine worked in the connected assisted living. She brought in a baby pygmy goat. It was fun to see the residents hold it and pet it. Other times she brought in some of her rabbits.

Many long term care facilities allow pets. Care for them becomes part of the aides' routines, I am sure. The issue is the size of the dog, it is a blue heeler. My niece works in a home though that has allowed some larger breeds if necessary.

@GardenGerty really? 'tis odd there'd be none 'f that sort 'round these parts. i know when i 'twas a caretaker 'n the sweet lady'd a massive stroke i'd quite the row with the staff jest to bring her pup daily to see her - a miniature poodle, who 'twas most well behaved.
thingies 've changed a bit, they now 'llow some certified therapy pups fer visits. i reckon that'd be progress. critters 're vital, i believe, to these folks well-bein'.
dang, ya said large breed'n i 'twas thinkin' german shepard sized, lol. i so hope they find some place soon fer 'em both.

@porwest I do not mind the snakes and they do not mind me. They have made sure I have not had rats and mice at my house.

I got the front and sides done. The public part. I am sure my back half of the yard is making a great place for the snakes.

@GardenGerty Ack! Snakes! I hate them. Even when I did pest control for a company called Batzner Pest Management, when someone asked what we did for snakes, I told them to call Orkin.

Many care homes here accept pets if the family supports it. The only issue is that this is a medium to large dog.

@GardenGerty Yes, small well behaved dogs would be more acceptable.

@maximax8 My niece says that where she works they even have a lab. This is a very overweight blue heeler. Often people have shihtzus and poodles and yorkies.

It's too hot to mow here today. We need to do ours too when it cools.

I need to mow at the rental house but all this dry dirt, no rain here for some time now, is in the air, making it hard for Tony and No he wants to go so leaving him is out.

We got rain overnight. I am glad I got the front all mowed. Only a little of the back.

This is a big step for her. She never even lived alone until she was 70, always people (including me) making decisions for her.

My grass looks like it could use a mow, too. Maybe tomorrow.
Friends of mine are trying to get their mom into a place but she keeps refusing after agreeing.

If they do not have a legal guardianship she can refuse as long as she wants to and she will. That kind of move is scary. I hope she is safe in her own place until they can get her into a home.

@BarBaraPrz Power of attorney only becomes active if she loses so much cognitive ability that she cannot care for herself. There are two kinds. POA for Healthcare and POA for finances.

I will keep busy while I can because I am sure a day is coming when I cannot. Mostly my sister needs reassurance that she is doing the right thing, oh, and peace of mind to do the paperwork. That is why we are going to the library to do it.

There is a pretty good chance there is one that will accept her. Her dog is a somewhat larger breed. Usually people have little dogs.

She says she just has no one to talk to about it there as everyone gossips, and she knows I work. So a professional seems to be the best bet for her.

The last time she needed some help what she really needed was me to just suggest a few things and help her calm down. The big thing is she cannot think with constant visitors to her home, so we shall go to the library. They have awesome seating areas where we can be comfy and uninterrupted.

@wolfgirl569 I think she had not been to the library before. When we lived together she would not go. Going with me today made her comfortable enough she got a library card and asked them to reserve a book when it comes in. She has another neighbor who goes there almost daily or she can take a cab or senior pass bus to get there. It is beautiful and calm and comfortable.

She really likes this lady but it is apparent that she is deteriorating. Her son called my sis while on vacation because he could not get in contact with his mom. When my sister talked to him the lady said she had no phone. Also no keys to her apartment. Later they were found in the pocket of a jacket she had worn a day or two before.

My sister is sad, because she likes the other lady a lot. The adult son has told my sister that he admires how patient she is with his mom. My sister felt badly for complaining, but it is necessary. She is going to this mental health center because she wants someone impartial to just listen to her.

@GardenGerty It is so sad when dementia sets in. The person is no longer the same as they were.
