I decided to share a few incredible animal facts today. I hope you enjoy the journey into the amazing things that animals do. Did you know that 99 percent of all species have become extinct since the planet Earth came into being? As afraid of venomous snakes as some of us are, we need to be wary of cows. Believe it or not they kill more people in a year than a venomous snake. Another interesting fact is that a cockroach can live for quite sometime after decapitation. It actually dies of starvation because the brain is located in the body. It can live up to 9 weeks. Believe this or not, a lion can mate up to 50 times a day. He's quite a busy guy. The sweetest fact of today is the size of a baby kangaroo when it is born. Incredibly, they are only the size of a coffee bean. A Do you have a favorite animal fact? Share it with us.

jest love all 'f this info! a newborn panda 'tis 'bout the size 'f a stick 'f butter :) some folks might be laughin', but some breeds 'f cattle 're not nice't all! e'en with the gentler breeds thingies can go awry. i'd a small herd ('bout 15) that'd jest been turned 'nto pasture escape late one eve. got 'em all back, but they were full 'f mischief. whilst i 'twas shuttin' the gate, they started playin' - jumpin' all 'round. one fell 'nto the other, which fell 'nto the gate, which fell 'nto me. dislocated my hip 'n took me several hours to slither back to the house. 'n now all know why those lions don't hunt - they've no strength left!

What a horrible thing about cockroaches. About cows I know, many stupid tourists here in Switzerland approach cows during summer, they have their babies to protect and they attack.

@HazySue All animals try to protect their babies, even the little birds can become aggressive if you approach their nest.

Sometimes people don't think. Animals are so protective of their young. I can understand the mama cow attacking.

Lion mates 50 times a day? No wonder the fact that the lion was sleeping was worthy of a song! The most obvious animal fact is cats own the world.

More facts about kangaroos - they can hold an embryo in suspension if conditions are good and as they can be feeding a yearling and a baby at the one time, they produce two different types of milk. I enjoyed reading the other facts too.

These are interesting animal facts which I didn't know before. I know the female mantis will eat the male one after they mate and this is how they can have better children since the female mantis have extra nutritions. I have to say that male mantis really sacrifice everything it has

Those are all interesting facts. I agree. The lion is a busy guy. Not so fun about the cockroach. Funny place for a brain. Did you mean venomous snakes instead of spiders or did you have a fun fact about spiders?

Random animal facts are always interesting. At the moment my mind is blank...but .....pheasant families usually have a range of 80 acres when searching for food.

That seems like a lot of area for them to cover. They really need the food after hunting that much territory.
