Not a good start to the day

What a start to the day, not good. I woke up this morning a little after 4 am about an hour before the alarm was to go off. I woke to what I thought was an explosion. Before I really knew what was going on I was on the floor, gun in hand. I then realized that it was storming out but it didn't seem like thunder that I heard. The power was out and I looked out the window and there it was the transformer behind our place was sparking. The transformer blew and that mush have been the noise that woke me up. I called the electric company and they said they would get someone out there and call the police. I let them know that I couldn't tell for sure but it didn't look like any lines were down. They said they would call the police just incase and she told me not to go near it to just leave it alone. Yea, okay lady like I was going to go over and catch the sparks as they fell. I got the power pack and got a light going in the bathroom to shower and get ready for work. Here I am moving the pack and the lamp around the place so I can get ready for work. A little inconvenient but beats bang into walls in the dark. Once I was ready I figured I would leave a little early figuring the traffic might be heavy due to the rain. It's a good thing I left early all the stop lights were out in town. There is a road that I take to get to the interstate that on a normal day takes about 5-10 minutes to get down however due to all the lights being out it took almost 30 minutes. Great I'm running late already and I'm not even close to work. The interstate was very bad with traffic, I seen 4 accidents on the way into work. None of them looked serious but still it slowed traffic to a crawl. I left early and still made it to work with 3 minutes to spare. Hopefully the day get better from here. Hope you all have a great day.

I am so sorry, but when there are accidents the driving time is unpredictable. I hope your Boss can understand.

@Bensen32 There was an accident here yesterday, they had to close a tunnel for a vehicle that caught fire, there were 2 hours waiting before it was opened again.

Yea, I had gotten to work with 3 minutes still before I had to be here so I was on time and besides everyone here is always late and I think in the 3 years I have worked here I have been late 2 times, both in snow storms.

Wow, that was a rough start to your day. I hope it got better as the day went on. Did it end up storming all day long, or did the sun eventually peak its head out?

It was mostly cloudy all day but no more storming and the sun did come out a few times for a short time.

wow that sounds like a bad morning. Yesterday was ok for me until the afternoon. I think I have a cold. I didn't sleep good last night. I will be taking some cold medicine in a little while.

That is not a bad day! 1- the noise woke you so you did not over sleep due to loss of power 2 - You have a phone to call and report it 3 - you did have a flash light so you were not running into the walls 4 - you still had water to bathe in 5 - The power thing did not blow up on your car and you could go to work. 6 - oh! you have a job. 7 - The slow traffic may have been a God send, if you had been any earlier, that could have been you in one of those accidents. 8 - you clocked in on time. I would say you are pretty lucky this morning.

Well, ok maybe I should have titled this a great start to the day. I guess I seen my cup was half empty this morning instead of seeing it as half full. Thank you

Yea, it was not pleasant to wake up like that, it took a while to calm down a bit.
