A fellow stereo geek brought back my (1971) Kenwood KR-5150 receiver the other day. He did some work on it "for free" with the caviat that I owed him a free cosmetic speaker restoration.
The speakers he brought over are perfect for me: Acoustic Research AR-4xs, from about 1970. The cabinets are in horrible shape (see photo), but the speakers work perfectly. They are only about 20" tall, so they won't dominate my small apartment while I work on them.
A most excellent challenge for The Horse! The wood is walnut, with some deep scratches, but only one corner where I'll have to replace a 1" x 3" piece of veneer.
Any new projects on your end? Spare no details!

That looks like the perfect project for you! After spending 4 months in a hotel because of a water leak, we put water alarms underneath our dishwasher, washing machine and both bathroom sinks today. We don't want anything to happen again!

@TheHorse - Yes! Thank goodness! We were in the hotel for four months, which was waaaay too long. It is so nice to be back home, have our own things, and be able to cook and putter around our little flower bed, again. It was like Christmas to move back and start putting our things back in the cabinets, since everything had to be packed up before we left.

@andriaperry I hate it when those who were my mentors get old and die. I am NOT being silly.

Take your time, drink some coffee, I bet your friend will like your work and you will enjoy listening some music together.
For how long have you been fixing old devices ?
How did you learn it?
I don't have any special project. I baked a squash for the first time. I baked it with garlic, olive oil and silan.
It was good and tasty.

I'm planning to make a homopolar motor. A homopolar motor is made with a battery cell, disc magnet and a coiled wire.

Actually I will be doing it for my nephew, who is gearing up for his class II science project.

@amirev777 Oh, that sounds like FUN! Tell me more. I know that an electric current passing through a coiled wire generates a magnetic field. Or is it that a moving magnet surrounded by a coiled wire generates electric current? Or both? I took physics in the last Milenium! Fill me in!

That looks like that will keep you busy for awhile. My dinning room table could use some work, but it is big, and I don't want to deal with it, so I just cover it with a cloth.

I too got an electronic fixed, but it cost me $65 to get my laptop running. But now I can make some money online and believe me I need it now. With little warning I am going to have to come up with a deposit and pay movers or if I can find a way to stay here then I am going to have to pay more bills.
My projects now are sorting thru stuff to throw away or sell, need to make money.
