Where the Buffalo Roam

Was driving around in the new section of the neighborhood checking out the new houses. They are all full except for one.
And to my surprise, the buffalo I used to see are still around. I was worried they left with the cows and the dairy farm. But looks like the owners are still living in the house and they kept a few cows and these buffalo.
I tried to get a photo of them facing me, but they started walking away. Maybe next time I can get their faces. Kind of cool to see these massive animals up close. And knowing they are still in the neighborhood made my day.
Ever seen buffalo up close? They are huge but seems friendly. Of course there was an electric fence between us.

So cool! Yes, I've seen them up close. Their heads are massive. One of them was giving my husband the stink-eye though. He looked mean.

I don't think I've ever seen a buffalo up close. I used to sing the home on the range song a lot as a child.
I'm glad that the buffalo are still there, and I hope they aren't disturbed too much by the construction around them.

They are huge and when they start running towards you, oh my gosh. But the fence was in between us. I still keep my distance. The contribution is all done and they are still here so I guess they survived. There is more land behind the houses than I realized.

@CarolDM Oh, I guess the buffalo stay and graze in that land behind the houses. I am sure the new residents will get a kick out of seeing the buffalo outside of their window.
Yes, it's better to keep your distance with such a sturdy animal.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes they do. But they stay back away from the houses, I have been over there before and didn't see them. So the land does back farther than I can see with trees. Good for the buffalo.

That's an awesome photo! =) I love the cows around the block from us, they are massive too but so beautiful. They were also friendly to us and didn't mind their photo being taken.

In the 1970s I drove through every State in the USA--well, not Hawaii LOL--and saw sights I still remember today--including buffalo!

Glad they are still there. Never up close. I have heard they can be very unpredictable.

bluebirds, cardinals, swarms 'f butterflies'n now buffalo? my word if'n 'twas not so hot 'round yer neck 'f the woods, i'd say i'd swap with ya'n a heartbeat! very jealous o'er the green grass those magnificent creatures 've to roam. the horses here'd faint!
yes ma'am, i've met a couple 'p close. some're purty docile, but'cha still got'ta use caution 'round 'em. they seem quite fond 'f 'cake' (aka: alfalfa cubes). those long tongues comin' 't'cha though 'tis quite intimidatin', lol.
so thrilled those folks 're still there 'n 've kept some 'f their herd.

Isn't that great? I guess they are used to humans and hopefully not a huge threat.

Yes, here in Ohatchee, Alabama there is a buffalo farm, I`m not sure but its been told the government pay them to raise them, and after they populate to so many you can harvest one to eat. They want them in the wild again.

Yes they are intimidating.
