Don't forget to say 'hello' first

I’ve just read a discussion by Tokz (@ilocosboy) about bringing back gifts for his children if he has been away. You can catch up here - https://www.mylot.com/post/3307012/there-is-something-for-the-kids-when-going-home-from-travel. It reminded me of the time Vince went away for about a week. He left from the small airport in Esperance, Western Australia, and the boys and I went to see him off. They were about 4 and 6 years old I guess. We all missed him of course and there was high excitement when it was time to drive out to the airport to pick him up. Once the plane had landed, we were allowed to walk across to meet the passengers. He had promised to bring back something for the boys and they hadn’t forgotten that he’d be bringing a gift of some sort. I had impressed on them that they were to say ‘hello, Daddy, we missed you’ before worrying about their present. They were very obedient and when it was safe to run to meet Daddy, they were both yelling ‘Hi, Daddy, we’ve missed you. What did you bring us?’ Oh well, they did say 'hello' first! Photo is of a remote-controlled plane – a big boys’ toy – that they enjoyed playing with several decades later.

It was special because it came from somewhere else and from dad.

@JudyEv yeah I wasn't mad about it. My parents said how rude it is but she was 5 she didn't understand what rude is at that point.

You can't really blame little kids for this if it happens each visit. It's pretty cute in little kids.

that is a pretty cool model helicopter - much more stylish than today's drones

Vince has ordered a drone - not a top-class one but a drone nevertheless. He wants to take photos with it mostly.

@JudyEv drones are ok in the right hand - they just don't look as good as model aircraft - drones look like a bed-frame without mattress coating

@JudyEv What I like of children is the fact that are sincere, they cannot wait for something they like.

Well done, sir. You spotted my deliberate mistake. So, if it clearly said on the packet, 'not to be flown outdoors', would have taken it outside and tried to fly it? Just asking, you being a man and all.

kids are so excited for gifts and in that age they love too but love for parents is very good thing as they behave. This kind of happiness definitely make all family's day.

@JudyEv One time we wrapped a Christmas gift for our dad. Mom forewarned us, 'Don't tell your father what it is!' As Dad opened up his gift my brother declared, 'It's not slippers!'
