You are 10x more likely to get bitten by a New Yorker than you are a shark

United States
October 13, 2019 6:30pm CST
6,339 people have been bitten by another person in in the years (non consecutively) between 1981-1987 in New York. Only 57 people have been bitten by sharks in that same span of time. 2,507 people have been bitten by a cat and 49,992 people have been bitten by a dog, again in the same span of years. So you should look out for dogs and people if you are ever in New York. Even Spiders were reported only to have bitten two people between 1981 and 1987. Atleast enough to warrant a visit to the hospital... So, yeah, watch out for those New Yorkers, apparently they are a breed in and of themselves. (I Joke). I'd like to think (hope) that these numbers have dropped significantly. We have to consider that New York has a lot of people in it. It makes me wonder how many people were residing in NY at that time.

lol Most of the sharks in New York are trying to loan you money, maybe that is why they don't bite lol Or they are in Washington

You only get bitten by those types of sharks if you don't pay back the loan on time AND with interest.

I got bitten only once in my life and it was a small Chihuahua dog, I trust cats a lot more, people not so much.

Chihuahuas aren't normally dangerous, only if they are provoked or have been taught to be mean. Much like the pitbull, a chihuahua is usaully very docile and timid. I'm guessing the chihuahua was either scared or had been taught to be mean.

@LadyDuck I grew up with chihuahuas in my life, so I am only speaking from what I know personally. Our dogs acted like rotweillers but did not bite.

@ScribbledAdNauseum If you read the statistics Chihuahuas are the dogs that bite more than all the others. My cousins has 3 and they are all mean, even if she never taught them to be mean.

@amitkokiladitya Yes, we tend to think of children biting each other or adults, but not adults biting other adults.

Definitely something I'll keep in the back of my mind. I think most New Yorkers are too busy just trying to get from Point A to Point B now.

I'm a native New Yorker and have never bitten nor been bitten by anyone. That's a weird statistic

It really is a weird statistic. I would assume that the majority of New Yorkers have never even thought of biting another person.
