Are you afraid of dogs?

On Fridays I usually go to the Chinese hair salon to wash and blow out my hair. And then when hubby finishes work we go to his parents' house for dinner. On the way there, we pick up his brother and his German Shepherd.
I am afraid of dogs, especially big ones, as I got bitten by one when I was little. (Oddly it was a small dog that bit me.) This German Shepherd is not even one years old yet but his size is big enough for me. I am not comfortable with him being in the car or at the in-laws' house. I don't want him jumping on me. And he can scratch or bite. I try to stay away from him when he comes near me. I wish my brother-in-law would leave the dog at home but I know that will never happen.
We haven't been at the in-laws' for dinner in a few weeks so I am relieved about that as I've not been around that dog. Wonder if we are going today. Hubby didn't tell me.

No. I had a rescue dog that bit me once; but I can understand why he did it; so, no, I'm not afraid. I love dogs. I wish I had three.

I would never get a dog. Or a cat for that matter. No pets for me.

@JudyEv What's funny is that sometimes the smaller dogs are way more loud than the big ones.

I was bitten by a pretty small dog yet I am afraid of the big ones more than the small ones.

My husband is dog according to Chinese zodiac. I feel uncomfortable near dogs, I also do not like when they want to lick you.

I don't like to be near dogs, especially big ones. Weird but according to Chinese zodiac I am a dog.

@LadyDuck My husband is a dog as well. We were both born in 1982. I don't want dogs licking me either. Or cats for that matter.

I am. I'm afraid of all kinds of dogs. I wasn't bit by a dog, but a big dog jumped on me when I was little.

Not afraid of them so much as hate them. I was mauled by a German Shepherd as a child and still have the scar. That is the most extreme of the attacks I have endured in my life.

You had a scary experience when you were a kid - I can see why you are afraid of dogs. I grew up with dogs and one of them had strong hunting instincts as a puppy and could be aggressive - but I tackled and wrestled him 
, so I'm ok with most dogs.

Well, I was young and stupid, so it was my fault. I followed the dog inside a building and threw her a bone. But then I took the bone from her. And then I threw her the bone again. And then I took it away again.... That probably made the dog mad so it bit me.
