Little Bird, Little Bird

As I walked past my back sewing room today, I realized that some of my plants needed water. So I got a 24 oz. yogurt container and filled it to take in. I noticed Tink was interested in something in the window. It was a sunny window and I supposed Mickey had gotten up and behind the curtain. I kept seeing something black moving the curtain. No, it was far too small to be Mickey. It was a little bird. My water container was now empty, so I went to the window, pulled back the curtain and gently covered the bird. I put my hand over the top and showed the bird to Bob then took it outside. He happily took off and flew away. Based on the shape of the bill, it was likely a finch of some type. I just do not know how he came to be in my back bedroom. Free at last. I am positive the little bird is happy.

I'm so glad Tink didn't get him. You don't have a hole in your roof do you?

No, but I may have some screening off on the vent to the attic. I had my attic access open for a bit last night.

@rebelann That particular room is very sunny and bright, and has yellow curtains so it seems very welcoming.

I am glad I had the perfect thing in hand to do it. I am glad Tink did not get to him before I did.

@GardenGerty I always keep an eye on the cats of my neighbors when I see the birds at my bird feeders.

The little bird was fortunate enough to be caught by you before Tink preyed on it.

Many years ago I had a mockingbird chase my cat indoors. She got mad and caught it. Was really unhappy when I said she had to let it go.

I hope that young bird would grow. I had many encounters with young birds because they nest on our mango tree. Not a good story to tell.

Out of all the creatures that have wandered into my home, we have never had a bird fly in, thank goodness. I don't think they would be as easy to catch as a lizard haha

I had a cat bring one in from time to time. Not always easy to catch. I would have to be fast to catch a lizard.

@GardenGerty I had a lizard come into my room before and I managed to catch it in one of my old prescription bottles. I don't know how it stayed still long enough but I got it and took him outside.

I have seen them go down chimneys if you have one of those. Glad you could catch him.

I do not have a chimney, there are vent pipes for the bathrooms and hot water heaters, etc. There is an opening around the top of one hot water heater. May have come in there.

You'd have to wonder how they manage to make their way in sometimes.

There may be a way in through the vents to my attic. I had my attic access open a while last night.
