Dinner Procrastination

United States
November 22, 2019 3:41pm CST
So, I have had all day to think about what to make for dinner. Two hours ago I took a kielbasa out of the freezer. Sat here for and slept for little bit. Had a coffee, sat a little longer. Now it is dark outside, hubby will be home in about an hour. and here I sit. Guess it's macaroni and cheese to go along with the kielbasa. On that note, I'm heading to the kitchen. Do you ever procrastinate about making dinner or are you one of those plan ahead kind of people?

I have a husband who is the only who cooks in our house. He is amazing...I hate cooking so I really married the right man... I should say he worked in food for a while and when he was working I really did the cooking...once he retired, he is the king in the kitchen...and I love that.

Vince didn't have a 'kitchen' background but he does all the cooking now and is a really good cook. Like you, I hate cooking.

I like to make a jambalaya when I have a smoked sausage, one hour is enough to prepare it.

My family wouldn't eat jambalaya. I would though!

I'd like to say I'm a plan ahead person, but I'm not. I procrastinate to the point I end up with two or three breakfasts a day. Today I actually got the hamburger out of the freezer so I could have something besides eggs twice today.

I try not to overdo the eggs. Even though I like them, I want other protein as well. Variety is the spice of life.

@ElusiveButterfly Yes, it is. I have a lot of meat in the freezer, and often forget to take something out for dinner.

Mostly we plan ahead but Vince is the cook. I often help with the planning though as he gets a bit stuck sometimes.

I got stuck again last night. I ended up defrosting a package of venison sausage and making pancakes to go with that.

I am both! Make candied kielbasa. Cut the kielbasa up in coin-size pieces then mix with ketchup, tartar sauce and brown sugar. To be fancy, use toothpicks or simply use a fork.

That sounds interesting.

@ElusiveButterfly Another way to prepare candied kielbasa is to mix the coin size pieces mixed with grape jelly and BBQ sauce.

@Spontaneo I don't care for grape jelly so that would be a no go.

My brother prepares dinner most of the time, if he is busy we just buy ready to eat like grilled pork belly or grilled chicken.

@florelway a roasted chicken often goes for 2 meals here. So I get 2 meals for the price of one!

I have often opted to buy a ready made chicken and never regret it.

@ElusiveButterfly most often those chicken recipes by commercial establishments are worth the price.

When I am on the computer, I get stuck. I neglect a lot of things. I like it better when I have planned ahead but that does not always happen.

I am going to buy some sandwich meats next week and have a soup and sandwich night. I always have a pot of soup in the fridge and on cold nights it is something that is welcomed.

I rarely plan ahead what to have for dinner so end up just having chips or a meal replacement shake.

I have had toast a time or two. But, I'll cook up something good for my hubby and Little Miss.
