Hubby's shopping trip to Whole Foods gone wrong

Hubby went to Whole Foods yesterday and got a few things... When I asked him why he got organic bananas (we never do) he told me he got regular ones. I showed him the label on the bananas, which said organic on it. He proceeded to tell me that he got regular ones. I then showed him the receipt, which said bananas were 69 cents per pound, which is the price for organic ones; regular are 49 cents per pound. So, he clearly got organic ones. And on the outside they are a bit brown, which I don't like. Hopefully, they are not brown or mushy inside. Then I noticed that he got something from the cookie bar, which is $11.99 per pound and asked him what that was. The price came out to $5.28. He told me it was the two almond croissants he got. I told him that he made a mistake. Almond croissants are $2.50 each and do not go by weight. I have no idea why he thought they were supposed to be weighed when we've been getting them from there endless times and we always paid $2.50 each for them. Good thing that his mistake only cost him an extra 28 cents. On top of all this, my mom asked him to get only one butternut squash. He ended up getting two huge ones, and two of another variety. Clearly, it wasn't his day yesterday.

Never send a man grocery shopping. That is rule #1 of grocery shopping. We will get it wrong every single time when you send us to the store!

Not true lol. Hubby's gone shopping before and brought what was asked. But I know not to send him shopping when he is very hungry because then he goes crazy and gets too much stuff. And well, I can be that way too if I am very hungry and at the store.

@lovebuglena I hate going to the grocery store when I'm hungry. I will go there to get one thing, and next thing I know I am the proud owner of aisle 3.

@moffittjc Haha. How about going to the store for one thing and then leaving the store with a lot of stuff but not the thing you went in for in the first place?

Better not to send him alone to buy grocery.

Especially if he hasn't eaten all day and is very hungry. Because then he wants everything.

Maybe he thinks by getting it all wrong, he won't be asked to go shopping again!

I doubt he thinks that. But if he does, he is out of luck on that one.

Don't ever send a guy food shopping! Mine does all the shopping now; and he comes home with all sorts of treats and snacks; and he hardly ever looks at prices.

Why doesn't he look at prices?

@lovebuglena He just buys what he wants. Sometimes he shops the sales; but he feels, at his age, if he wants something, he will buy it. Sometimes I can't blame him. Neither of us has anyone to leave our money to!

He was doing self-checkout. If he had gone to a cashier the almond croissants would have been rung up correctly.

I am relaxed but he overspent. All that squash cost him about $20. He would have spend way less had he gotten just one like my mom told him. And if he would have rung up the croissants correctly he wouldn't have spent an extra 28 cents for nothing. Why waste money, especially when you are not rich?

I agree with LindaOH. Never send a man to grocery shop, especially at Whole Foods. They never pay attention to price.

Well, he claimed the organic bananas were better than the regular ones and that is why he took them. To me they don't look all that great. And I actually tried one yesterday and was not a fan.

We usually shop there together. This was one of the rare times he went there by himself.
