It's About To Get Ridiculous

Have you seen what has been happening with all of these 'streaming services?'
Prime, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Disney...and so on and so forth...
At first these businesses had the right idea. People were pulling the plug. People were, as they say, 'cutting the cord.' Why? To save money of course. The cable companies are and were getting too big for their britches, were charging customers too much and people were tired of paying for tons of content they could care less about.
So they started to resort to things like Netflix and Hulu.
BUT, all of these companies have caught on. They still want their money. They want every penny of it. And so now there is all of this infighting over who gets what content.
We have solved nothing. Now you will have to have all of these individual services to get to watch what you want...
And the way I see it going, we may BEG the cable companies to come back to us because when you start to add up the cost of all of these individual services...
It's going to make the cable bill look CHEAP.
What are your thoughts on this trend?

There are so many streaming services that it's now almost impossible to decide which one to choose. We've always had Netflix. I cancelled Amazon Prime because we weren't getting our money's worth. Cable is obscene. We are paying over $200 a month for phone/internet/TV. We have to do something.

I don't have an online subscription because I think my cable connection is enough for me and giving me fine entertainment.

I'm still learning about this stuff since moving out of the house in April. My ex gave me his Amazon Firestick and it connected to a local hotspot so I was able to get access to some services and movies for free. (I'm still on his Xfinity account so I have an email and password to access the hotspot) I could watch Netflix (still have access to the account) and Amazon Prime (my own account) and I was doing okay with that.
My dad recently signed up for YouTube TV. $50/month but you can have up to 5 other people on the account. I'm on that as well now and can watch live TV in real time. I probably would pay for it myself now that I've been using it because it is cheaper than cable but luckily I don't have to.
I'm paying just like $12/month for Amazon Prime really for the shopping/shipping benefits. I don't think I would pay for it just for the shows and movies.

The cord cutters better enjoy low rates now while they can. Once the satellite and cable companies are gone, they will be replaced by every network, sports franchise (the Yankees have concluded an Amazon deal to stream the season for $99), movie studio etc is going to have a streaming channel and guess what, to get what you want, you'll end up with the same cable or satellite bill as now if not more and best believe it will be more. That New York sports fan paying streaming services for Yanks, Knicks, Jets, Giants etc at $99 a pop will be a helluva lot more than what they are currently paying.

We have Netflix and DIRECTV. We have almost the smallest package, but I still hate paying for so many channels we don't watch. I didn't find Amazon Prime worth paying for.

We don't have any of these so none of it will affect us. I guess that's one benefit of being a dinosaur.

The cable I had here was horrible and when Netflix came even though they just raised their prices I still pay less than I did for a cable company that did not know how to fix things and showed things over and over again. Netflix was a breath of fresh air for me.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but so true!! We are sticking with only Netflix and Hulu (Unless they decide to go up in price a lot).
