MyLotters! Sometimes I Can *Like* But Not *Comment*. Does This Happen To You, Too?

What I usually do after reading a post is this:
- If I like a post and feel like adding my mustard (a German saying meaning ‘make it more spicy‘), I *Like* it and *Comment* on it.
- If I think a post is ok but not of interest to me and I can’t think of a relevant response, I only *Like* it.
- If the topic is of no interest to me at all or an inane one-liner or if the post is badly written (by someone whose native language is English), I slink away without leaving a trace.
-----
Recently I’ve noticed something odd: It happens occasionally that I can *Like* posts but not *Comment* on them.
What does that mean? If a member has blocked me, I shouldn’t be able to do anything at all. Has the member in question half-blocked me so that I can *Like* but not *Comment*? How would that be possible?
I’ve decided not to *Like* posts anymore in future if I notice that it’s not possible to leave a *Comment* as well. If someone doesn’t want to see what I have to say, I don’t want to fill their coffers, not even with half cents.

It means that that person has blocked you. That is the way that blocking works here - you can see their posts and 'like' them but you can't respond to or comment on them. They can see your posts as well and can respond to and comment on them but you can't see their responses or comments. I know it's a little screwy but that's the way it was made.
If that block was unintentional, then a 'like' might just serve to make them curious as to why you didn't respond or comment, inspire them to look at your profile and unblock you. On the other hand, of course, the block might have been intentional. You might want to search your soul to find out why and a 'like' might be a small token of humble apology. Whatever ... it's up to you what you do, of course.

@GoAskAlice I can understand not being able to comment on the post if we have been blocked but I don’t think it is right at all that they can comment on our posts and we just won’t see it. That seems to me it could encourage bullying.

Yeah, why disable the comment capability, I don't mind good or bad comments on my posts, both are considered experience, and all experiences are good for learning, if people doesn't want critics maybe he doesn't want to listen, then why bother let him live alone on an island, just saying

Is it possible to half block a person here?

@renicemae Never mind! Things like that happen if one sees something only in writing and doesn't hear the spoken words and the tone in which they are spoken.

What I found this week is that sometimes when I move my mouse over 'comment' next to a person I want to reply to in the comments section nothing happens. The text box does not open. I end up having to refresh the page and then it works fine. Wonder why that is happening.

It has happened to me a few times lately but when I close the discussion and reopen it I am able to comment.

i have noticed that a couple of times. I normally close the browser and try MyLot on a different one (like I am on Chrome now, i use FireFox instead) sometimes that works.
Sometimes it doesn't!

I don't know if this is relevant but I just had it happen to me. However I went out of the page and back into it and was able to post so I think it must have been some glitch which prevented me from posting.
