Question of the Day- Checking Store Receipts

With the holiday season here many of us are busy shopping for food and gifts. Which made me curious about checking over your purchases and finding errors.
I recently had yet another experience where there was an error on the receipt from my store purchases. In this instance the grocery store clerk ran up the same item twice. Seems with all the fancy machine technology available assist us humans we still can make mistakes.
Which leads me to today's question: Do you always check your store receipts for accuracy or do you trust the store employee to ring up the items correctly? Have you had a similar experience like I did finding your receipt in error?

I always check my receipts and most of the time find them accurate. I always follow the cashier while he punches in my purchases.

Yes I try to do the same. Sometimes I help with the bagging of groceries and then I will look at the receipt on the way to the car. Today I noticed the milk I bought csts more than usual. I had grabbed the wrong type milk

@florelway Yes, right. Plus I noticed the description on the receipt said 2 percent Milk not what I usually buy.

@dgobucks226 so it's not actually what was printed on the receipt but since it's another brand and may have command of another price.

Such a trusting person you are. Hopefully the store personnel kept their diddling to themselves, lol.

@dgobucks226 There is always a line item at the bottom of your docket saying how much you saved and we always read that. Does that count?

I've had a situation where the checkout grocer failed to place a bag full of items in my cart and I went home without checking my purchases. Took everything out of the plastic bags and stored them away then noticed I did not have all the items I purchased. I had to scramble through a pile of plastic bags searching for the one with the receipt
There was definitely a moment of panic for me, lol.

I used to. I have a bad habit of not checking receipts. I just recently started checking restaurant receipts.

Yes, that is another place where it's good to doublecheck the charges.

Sometimes I do. There is a clerk at a local store that has rung me up at the wrong cost atleast twice.

It definitely happens more often than one thinks. I've had clerks forget to ring in the coupons for items I purchased.

@dgobucks226 When I use coupons, the cashier seems to always need the manager. But, I still use coupons when I can.

I tend to watch the totals add up. It's rare that I've had an error.

Sometimes I just check to see that I got the right change. I understand why people do check them to make sure no overcharges or charged the right price.
