Putting away my Christmas decorations - not a five-minute job

We were in the city yesterday and many places still have their Christmas decorations up which surprised me somewhat. I took mine down a day or two ago but it wasn’t quite as easily done as I thought.
We only had some tinsel draped along the pelmets over the curtains. As we didn’t have a tree, I attached the ornaments to a ribbon across the front of the hall cabinet.
The decorations fit in one box and two plastic bags so I got the small step-ladder and brought these down. I packed up the tinsel and ornaments and put the boxes back on top of the cupboard. And put the ladder away.
Then I discovered that I’d forgotten the wreath on the front door. This consists of tinsel over plastic tubing so I took the wreath apart, got the boxes down, packed the tinsel, and put the boxes back. I’d forgotten a bowl full of Christmas baubles sitting in the middle of the table. Brought down the box, packed away the baubles, put the box back up. Discovered I’d forgotten the tinsel we’d would round the chimney. Got the tinsel down, got the box down, packed the tinsel, put the box up.
Now I’m finally finished. As my dear old Mum would say, my head would never save my legs.
The photo is of my hand-made wreath. You might remember it from last year.

I'm still not finished taking all my Christmas decorations down. I manage to grab at least one thing each day when I get home from work, and take it down (I had a lot of Christmas decorations in the yard). So I've been bringing it inside one piece at a time, and just placing it all on the floor in the dining room until I get all the decorations down, at which time I'll start packing it all up. I told my son that he and I were going to finish packing it al up this weekend. Of course he groaned because he doesn't want to do it! haha

Putting it up is far easy than packing it up all again for future use. And it sucks.

@simplfred Next Christmas, it should be your turn to put away the decorations.

I can imagine it would take a long time for some people who have a lot of decorations.

We didn't bother with decorations this year. We were away for Christmas and New Year so couldn't face returning from a 10 day holiday and having to take decorations down. The post-holiday come down was enough without facing that thank you very much.

We only did the minimum and probably wouldn't have any but then we ended up having two rellies for lunch and four for dinner so we thought we'd better make a bit of an effort. It all seems a bit pointless if you're going to be away or there's just the two of you.

It figures that you had to bring down and put back the box a few of times, there are so many odds and ends.

our decors came down a few days ago, but they're still waiting to be packed and stored.

You're so creative. That's a good hand-made wreath.
