We are searching high and low for a reasonably priced car insurance. we have gone online to see what's there but everybody wants some pretty private information and I do not feel comfortable sharing this online.
Now we have started calling insurance companies. Well, my hubby is doing the calling and talking. I am starting to think that driving a car cost more than I want to spend.
Does anyone out there know a good, reliable car insurance company that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

We were happy with Progressive for our motorcycle and travel trailer. We have used them and still do for over 10 years for the travel trailer. Have had very bad service from AllState who claimed they didnt' get the monthly payment when Hubby filed a claim with them. He rear ended someone in a brand new car and we ended up having to pay out of pocket for repairs. Then years later we have the amount of that payment in unclaimed funds from state. They had the check in their office all along. Liars. I will never use AllState or recommend them again. We have our car insurance with State Farm now.

@Courtlynn We decided to look around at other insurances when our rates kept going higher and higher.

They all cost an arm, leg and ear. I have gieco and the last time I tried a site like that it ended up that no one could beat what I already had, I gave up trying to find a better one. You really have to be careful that what is offered by competitors is actually the same as what you have

In a word? No.
However, I have my car and homeowner’s with the same company (AAA Insurance [a subsidiary of the auto club]), and it makes both a little cheaper.
Good thing I’m an octopus and have an arm and a leg to spare!

i aint so certain there'd be any such monkey 's a "good, reliable car insurance company". kinda like health insurance, 'tis a crap-shoot. we've 'd farmers fer years ('bout 30) 'n 't seems our longevity makes 'em the cheapest 's none 've been able to e'en come close to the premiums.
don't blame ya regardin' that online thingy. be a cold day'n hades 'fore i gave those places my info, too.

@lynnwrites i figure such's location? i dunno, they're crooks though, jest like all other insurance companies. i asked my agent jest the other day how they justified such, which 'f course she'd nary a clue - jest sells't.
i do need to check though with the hartford thru aarp. i hear tell they're 'nlike farmers'n don't ding ya fer reachin' a certain age. 've a safe drivin' course where's ya can get a discount fer that.
back'n the day, i'd all my trucks 'n trailers fully covered, e'en glass replacement. now i've the bare minimum 'llowed by law jest'n the trucks 'n 'tis o'er $200 more e'ery 6 months. ridiculous..

It really is a crapshoot. I started out with Farmers and when I finally decided to shop around the quote I got from Geico was about half the price we were paying at the time. We still do quotes every so often and Farmers is still one of the companies with the highest rates for us.

I switched from Allstate to Geico recently and they are much cheaper. I haven't had to put in a claim for anything but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that if I ever do I won't be disappointed.

I don't think you'll be disappointed by them. The claims process was so easy when we had to deal with it a few years ago. I've done a couple of glass claims since then and it's really quick to go online, report the damage, and schedule an appointment with a preferred company to have the work done.

We have ours through Geico. They've consistently been the least expensive company for us for years, although we did switch over to Progressive for six months when they gave us a lower quote for the same coverage. The claims process was a lot less painful with Geico than it was with Progressive, because the adjustor came out to us and cut me a check for the damages right there.
