Do You do Things on the Spur of the Moment?

We disappeared from Saturday morning to late Tuesday afternoon.
It was a spur of the moment thing.
During our Friday date night, hubs and I were reminiscing about our two sons and the grandkids. We stopped talking and looked at each other for a moment or two, and started laughing. My laugh was giddy.
Right then and there we called each son, booked a flight to New York City and one back to Florida. I ordered the charcuterie in my photo to be delivered on Sunday for a family get together in New York City.
We spent Saturday, Saturday night, and most of Sunday in New York City with our older son, daughter-in-law, and our precious grandkids.
Our younger son drove in on Sunday for a get together, then drove us to his house in Connecticut. We spent Sunday night, Monday, and much of Tuesday with him at his house. We even popped into our own house to check it out. I found a few things to pack for Florida. He drove us to the airport.
The weather was pretty mild, being together with our family was so wonderful, and those grandkids kept us hopping with their sports and activities.
Can’t wait to do it again once we recover.

That sounds like a perfect trip, unfortunately in Ocala, we have a long drive to the nearest airport since our beautiful local airport has no commercial flights, can you believe it???? Its 6 miles from our house. We have to go to orlando or tampa for direct flights.

@DianneN Yes it is difficult for us but we are just going to have to get used to UBERing to Orlando or hiring a private car which is what we did when we took the cruise out of Tampa.

It was a wonderful spur of the moment trip and only took a few minutes to plan. All I had to do was pack a small bag after dinner and lock the door in the morning.
That’s too bad you aren’t closer to a commercial airline. It does make life so much easier.
We are lucky to have Palm Beach International so close. It is a small airport, but gets the job done.
Unfortunately, New York airports aren’t that close to Manhattan, but we lucked out getting a limo and no traffic. We returned via Westchester, so the flight cost a bit more.

That's awesome, and it sounds like fun! Your sons obviously love being around you two.
My dad is the most spontaneous person I know. Once, he and his wife were headed to Cincinnati, and when I texted him the night of the day he left, they were in Niagara Falls. My late mom was a planner, but she eventually learned to go with the flow. My dad's wife has adjusted well, I think. After her being divorced 30 years it was kind of foreign for her to be in a relationship, let alone one that you never know what you'll be doing.
Can you believe my dad's wife never dated after her divorce? I guess there are more single women out besides me!

Wow! What stories you have to share! 30 years and no dating? Your dad must have swept her off her feet. Good things are worth waiting for.

I’m more of a planner, but sometimes it feels right to go with the flow.
Thanks so much! We are a very close and happy family. It was soooooooo good to be with everyone again,

@AmbiePam You are so right about those families that can’t stand each other. I still can’t understand how a mother and daughter or the opposite can’t talk to each other. It boggles my mind.
Your dad and Diana found true love and companionship. They are both so lucky. Your dad sounds like such a nice and kind man.
Our younger son is being perused by girls now that he’s divorced and on the “market” again. He’s wise to what they’re after, but is only interested in companionship and not marriage. I hope he finds whatever makes him happy.

Sounds like you need a relaxing day in the pool ..... I keep thinking I ought to install a pool but then I have to wonder just how hard that would be for lil ole me to keep clean, hmmmmmm..................
On second thought I'll just see if insurance will cover a new tub ................ as if I really need one

Some things I'll do spur of the moment. Sometimes when the weather is nice, Tyler and I give each other a look that says, "let's go do something fun" and we go drive off wherever the road takes us. It's led to some fun dates!
glad you had a great time with your family :)

@isweartokira
I have closet full of them in Connecticut.
Several years ago our grandkids came to Florida to skate in a World Championship event in Maitland Florida. We went up to spend a few days to watch them, but my husband had to buy me a parka to wear. It’s so cold on the ice. That parka came in handy, but it’s hanging in my closet up north with the rest of them.

@DianneN That would be awesome if she were to join myLot! But I'm sure with her active sports and social life that she wouldn't have time to be on myLot!

@moffittjc I would clobber her if she joined.
. She would not like me bragging about her all the time.
You’re right, anyway. She has no time and would much rather talk to her friends and make crazy videos on her TicToc app or whatever it’s called.
