My Accountant Is Not As Funny As His Brothers

Because I am, of course, rich, I have an accountant. Of course, I am being a bit facetious here. I have a few bucks lying around and many people SAY I am rich. Maybe I am. Who knows? But I don't consider myself that. In any event, my accountant has two brothers. Both are cartoonists. Gary and Glenn McCoy. They have a series they did called The Flying McCoys, and of course, Glenn is a conservative cartoonist. They do the panel thing sort of like The Far Side. I have never met Gary, but I have frequently played poker with Glenn. Their brother, my accountant, is very dry. Not NEARLY as funny as his brothers. But he is good at what he does and is worth every penny. How in the world did he wind up being an accountant? Now THAT'S funny.

He must. I have always thought that his job has to be the most boring job in the world.

@porwest I actually wanted to be an accountant at one time. I'm glad I didn't stick to it!

@kareng Yeah. It just doesn't seem like a fun job at all. And most accountants I have met tend to be very dry, miserable people.

Nothing dry about saving you a few bucks! Give him a few drinks and he'll loosen up

Does that mean accountants aren't funny people? I guess I never met one.

@porwest I couldn't do it either. I think my late brother was an accountant.

Accountants are very dry. I guess it's the whole numbers thing. It's a job I could never, ever do.

Our son is a great fan of The Far Side and bought us the desk calendars for several years.

As much as I like the Flying McCoys, by far The Far Side was a funnier cartoon. I hear Gary Larson is coming out of retirement to bring it back. I believe it will be online.

I love the Far Side. I'm not familiar with The Flying McCoys. I'm glad you have a good accountant. I take care of our own finances...but then we're not rich like you are!

Me? Rich? lol. I just use him mainly for taxes. The rest I take care of myself. I am very hands on when it comes to financial matters. But my taxes have become complicated over the years with certain investments etc, and so it's just easier to hand him all the papers and later, a check.

Like any other professon these people are dry because they must protect the client information in all circumstances. Imagine if the accountant was asked to disclosed asset informatin of the client. How would he reply? By keeping that cold look it is easy to get away without answering. See the stock broker floor if you want to see some accountants yelling at each other.
