People are so addicted to their smartphones...

I was walking along the street today when I noticed a big guy walking my way. He had a phone in his hand. Instead of looking ahead he was glued to his phone not watching where he was going. He could've easily bumped into me had I been lost in my own world and not paid attention to my surroundings.
People are so addicted to their smartphones that they become oblivious to what's going on around them. I've seen people typing away on their phones while crossing the street (and not necessarily on green), almost getting hit by cars... I've seen them bump into people, trip, you name it... I've even seen people texting while driving, which at times can lead to a serious accident or even death.
What's wrong with people?

Doing anything while texting is dangerous. People are mesmerized by their phones.

Seems like people can't do anything without having their phone on them. Like do you really need to facebook, watch videos, read stuff online, etc. on your phone while doing #2? Hubby seems to do that because every time he goes to do his business he takes his phone with him. And his Juul. This morning he was in the bathroom and was watching something on his phone that was very loud. I heard it in the bedroom, even with his door being closed.

Especially with social media and people wanting to document their every move.

Smart phones rule the world. Everyone likes to be connected all the time in case they miss something important.

Sometimes there are more important things going on and instead people are glued to their FB app or Instagram, etc.

That is also my question - what's wrong with people that they are like slaves of their phones. There is a city here that has an ordinance prohibiting the use of phones in the streets.

@lovebuglena even the use of earphone or headset in the streets is not allowed. I just wonder if there were arrests already.

@Alexandoy Why don't they allow earphones or headsets?

I share all your worries about people who can't get off their phones for two minutes. It's just so stupid.

@lovebuglena I have to admit I once emailed Vince from the lounge because I was too lazy to get up and go to the office to talk to him.

Yep. And how about people sitting together at the table but instead of talking to each other they are texting each other. I'd think it'd be teens doing that more than adults but still...

Nope. He just glanced at me and kept on walking. He didn't really bump into me because I moved to the side.
