Dealing with "I'm sorry but all reresentatives are busy" hell. Have you been there?

Due to a security breach, my main credit card company had to issue me a new credit card number. This means I have to make sure that the new number is linked to all accounts that have auto pay through that credit card. This includes my basic medical insurance. Because all massive corporations have erected a huge stone wall between them and their consumers, it is virtually impossible to get through to a live representative, so I can give them my new credit card number, and make sure that my medical coverage is not disrupted. Ironically, this increases my stress level. That, in turn, increases my cortisol level. Cortisol is a stress hormone. Elevated cortisol levels compromise the immune system, and also damage the hippocampus, a brain structure involved in learning. The bottom line: By being "automatic" and "cost saving" measures, medical providers increase their patients' risk of illness and premature dementia. In the long-term, this could cost them money, as more consumers will need their help as they age. Have you experienced "on-hold hell"? What was the situation?

@amitkokiladitya I wonder if the insurance companies and the doctors battle it out. It's good for the insurance companies, because we die younger. But the doctors have to treat us more frequently. Did I get that right? I'm not even sure.

@TheHorse I can understand wanting to leave the grid. It has crossed my mind a time or two but I have to admit that I like my luxuries too much.

Sometimes I consider leaving the grid and letting myself die in God's hands.

If I changed my billing rate as a psychologist, I could get pretty wealthy. Instead, I bleed money, health, and time.

This happens here too (or at least in Australia, when we get back there). And if and when you do get through to someone they're liable to move you on from one to another until you lose patience with the lot of them.

Do they at least speak your native language? Many of the people I deal with do not. It's frustrating.

@TheHorse Mostly they do but occasionally you get one who speaks really softly. They're the hardest to get through to.

Finally you confessed. You have damaged hippo whatever... and it has something to do with premature dementia...meaning there is every possibility you are demented...this is something I suspected...I mean, I was lining up beauties to earn my match making commission, and you were not falling for any of them. No wonder you are so fastidious ...do you also have ADHD? You are so particular about slides...I am now feeling sorry for you...and I do understand why you were not able to like the slides I was presenting..I really do. Here..nice hug to you Pony the damaged hippo whatever. Evil grin

This happens, but I finally always talk to a human, most of the time not in my native language, but in French that is more used here in Switzerland.

@thehorse Frequently. Once I get a human voice apologising and asking how they can help me the only appropriate and honest reply is “Oh I’ve had to wait that long I’ve forgotten what I was calling about”.

I hate it. I hate the terrible music. I hate the voice that keeps saying "we look forward to speaking to you" every 15 seconds.

I also have a lot of stress on hold, and I constantly fear my call has winded up in a call waiting grave yard where no one will ever answer.
