How About a Pet Like This?

Can you tell what kind of pet is in this yard? It's a huge pet pig. This photo was taken by my husband and is one of the sites he sees when he goes to one of the northern offices.
He always enjoys looking over and seeing this huge pig. It is humungous!
I couldn't imagine feeding that thing. I imagine it eats quite a bit of food and our leftovers wouldn't be more than one slurp to this big baby.
Would you want to have a big pet pig like this? Have you ever had a pet pig before?

My brother raised pigs when I was a teenager. He had them pretty tame. I remember Billy Boar pig- weighed over 650 lean pounds. We used to scratch him between his ears. @andriaperry You feed pigs dry feed and they don't smell. Dad went poor feeding those pigs dairy grain. The pigs would poop in one corner and eat their food in another.

@andriaperry Dad would buy the nastiest looking weiner pigs and get them home and start feeding them dry food and water. Within two weeks those pigs were clean and shiny. No more ucky about them.

Passing the pig farm and seeing the little piglets, so adorable, snap photos as I gagged.

We have had pigs that were very tame but not truly pets. I wouldnt want to clean up after one.

@wolfgirl569 Very true. My uncle raised a few years ago and my aunt had to put her feet down and say, "NO MORE!"

@wolfgirl569 It would have to be the right environment! My uncle had his in a pen. It was too small for the pigs. I think he had 4 in there.

@kareng They really are not bad if they have a large area. Dad had them in a pasture. We always fed and watered at the front fence. So they naturally went to the back, farthest from the house and barn, to go potty.

I can't imagine how to care for a pet pig but I have heard they are very loving if kept as pets.

No, I wouldn't care to have one. They are too big. I understand they make fair pets though.
