It is, and it isn't

You know that car we had fixed last week, to the tune of over three hundred dollars? It kept overheating. The mechanic put in a new thermostat. This was the first we used this mechanic. He has failed the test. He did not fix it. I was going to meet my friend for coffee, twenty miles away. Within four miles of the house it overheated. It is doing a lot of strange things. Hubby says it is water pump. He got the part for less than $35. Our favorite part time mechanic had been seriously, deathly ill for a while. He is better now. Today is supposed to be somewhat nice and he says he will help us. That brings up another thing. You know my husband, who was sick for so long. Had bladder issues, bleeding, surgeries and so forth? You know he had surgery in August and he has been doing fine. Except he isn't. He has abdominal pain. Probably an infection. Our primary care wants to also look for kidney stones. He was better, but he isn't. Good news that his blood work is improving. Good news, he has gained thirteen pounds since August. So things go on as normal and they really are not. Life is good in many ways, but sometimes it isn't.

@GardenGerty no, we've only had two cars since ive been on mylot, one we've only had for just over a year.. which is probably what you're thinking of with the two car accidents last year.

It is all part of life. There are some things that are quite good. Where are you going to church tomorrow?

@GardenGerty I don't think anywhere tomorrow because my back is giving me fits, but the following Sunday me and my friend are going to Sunnylane Family Church in Del City. The pastor is one of my dad's best friends, and he has been trying to get me to come for years. It's about 20 minutes away, but that's not a bad drive at all. I think it's fairly large, but not as large at last week's church.

I hope your hubby can be cured finally. That mechanic reminds me of the ones we have here, they'll fix one then and cause something else to go wrong. Can't trust any of them around here anymore.

Oh, it probably already needed fixing, and the thermostat was needing repaired but for heaven's sake, while you had the car in your shop why did you not look further? I guess it ran fine on the test run. But then we had severe cold weather again. I wonder if we can get ice blockage in the water pump? Hubby would know.

I remember back in the 60s if there was going to be a really cold night he'd cover the hood of his car with blankets to keep the motor from freezing @GardenGerty I suppose it would be the same for todays cars

Yes, me too. Hubby thought he had just pulled a muscle doing his PT at home. Doc says "no". We are waiting on test results.

Well, we just do not give up. We have the little 5 speed that still runs, but I do not have a key, hubby does. Health wise, he is still better than last year.

That's a good description of life. Sometimes good, sometimes not. I'm sorry the mechanic didn't fix the thermostat, and I'm sorry your husband is having medical issues again. I hope life starts handing you more is's instead of isn't's.

Hubby wise, compared to a year ago he is much improved but . . . you can see he is in pain when he walks. HE thought he pulled a muscle doing home based PT. Local Dr. says "no" and says he has a UTI or kidney stones. He is not taking any anti biotics until he knows exactly what strain of bacteria he has. Of course, reading up, some of the antibiotics they gave him last year can cause kidney stones, go figure.

@GardenGerty a damn if you and damn if you don`t situation. do you have any dried goldenrod? that is what I would use for kidney stones and UTI`s. I have plenty if you want me to send some for Bob, The flavor is not bad.

@GardenGerty I would agree with you that the mechanic failed badly. I am so sorry your favorite mechanic has been very sick. Sorry about your husband too. Glad his blood work is improving. You are right life is good in ways and other ways it is not.
