Not a good start to the year

Good morning all. Last night I spent most of the evening looking for a new job. I ended up sending out resumes to 6 different places. I found out yesterday that this Friday will be my last day at my current company. So I guess the push is on to find something pretty soon. I do have about 6 months worth of savings but I would rather not dip into that to much. The timing for this is not great not that anytime of losing a job is. As most of you know My dad is going through the health issues and then this is going on. I think life is trying to test me, and that is alright. I know there are others out there that have bigger challenges so I can't complain. I will do like I always have done, try to stay positive and keep pushing on. We do what we have to in life and try not to let it get us down. I was hoping that 2020 was going to be a really good year but so far it is not starting off so great. Hope all is well with you.

I can relate to that, I mean we all go through rock bottom in some point of our lives. I'm sorry to hear. Hoping you will find something that could get by really soon! Also, they should at least gave you the compensation you needed because you work so hard for it. Is there anyway you can complain? like a government agency perhaps?

Nope that is not how it works here. They can fire you at anytime for any reason with no compensation, so nothing can be done.

@StyleWithSense Well through the state you can claim unemployment and get money from them but through the job you get nothing. It's not as much as you were making but it's something to off set the income loss.

@Bensen32 That's just sad... atleast give the people some ways that they can get by until they will have some substantial income. I'm so sorry.

Very happy to hear you are among the very small camp of people who have the proper set aside for just a situation as this. You are losing your job at a pretty good time actually...despite things going on in your life. The jobs market is HOT. You should be able to land something soon.

@porwest Thank you, yes having the money makes you a little more at ease when a situation like this comes up.

@Bensen32 But the important part is having the money in the first place. I am sure you will find something suitable very soon and wish you the best of luck.

Sorry about your job. I thought you had until June. That is not cool at all..Go for unemployment, hopefully that will tide you over enough you won't have to dip into your savings.

Yea, it went from June then the owner decided he wanted to get rid of some people sooner so he let some go two weeks ago and 2 of us found out this is our last week and I know 2 more, they have till the 6th. That will leave about 7 people. I guess he wants to close up as soon as possible.

That is the goal. I would rather take something even if it is to buy me time to find something better.

i understand how stress piles up in front of you. Having a sick parent means big expenses. not only will their other children will pay, but all should be involved. God knows your needs. keep on praying and keep on applying.

Well thankfully on that part he had good medical and coverage so there shouldn't be much cost to it but still dealing with the health issue is enough to deal with
