Scrambled eggs need toast, don't you think?

Chatting with Alfredo (@amadeo) this evening, we discovered we like poached eggs with toast. I was reminded of having scrambled eggs at our hotel in Nepal. It was one of the options for breakfast. When it came, it was on a plate all on its own – no toast, no bit of parsley, absolutely nothing but the scrambled eggs. Which is fine really but just not what I expected.
Meals in Nepal were a bit different to what I used to. Any of the local eating houses served meals on tin plates. These were then washed under a tap in the street.
It seemed that most locals ate the ‘Nepali set’ for both main meals. At our friends’ houses we were never offered anything other than the ‘set’ which consisted of rice, dhal, pickled vegetables (usually spinach) and sometimes pieces of lamb in a spicy sauce. The flavours were mostly too spicy for me to really enjoy although I ate as much as I could if we were dining with our friends.
I thought you’d enjoy the photo of kids having fun although this was taken in 2017. You might have seen it before but it's a fun photo and can take a second airing.

I agree with you. Scrambled eggs come with a toast. Not only that, but a buttered toast!

I think spices used in our subcontinent can be too much for others to handle. But we are used to it and in this tropical climate it benefits us.
This picture is really fun and treat to watch.
And I agree that scrambled eggs have to come with buttered toast.

@arunima25 My stomach gets upset quite easily which was why I was a bit anxious about the food.

@JudyEv I know... Spicy is a relative term.
If you are not used to it, it would be a struggle to enjoy it.

I probably would miss the toast with the eggs too. It's funny how we all basically eat the same foods but different cultures serve it differently.
Glad you re-posted that photo...it still makes me smile

I do often get ill so I was very careful what I ate 'in the streets'. Mostly we went to a more Western, slightly up-market restaurant. And I also had several medications with me that the doctor had prescribed. I didn't eat anything on the bus trips except at a fancy lodge.

That's a cute picture. I think I would have trouble eating in Nepal.

Cute pic, I don't like eggs without toast..It is funny how different countries have different breakfast sets..Here, it would probably be bacon and eggs. That sounds good. I may have it tomorrow.

I could have gone along with just a tiny sprig of something sitting on it or whatever but it looked very lonely on its own.

The poor eggs looked very lonely sitting on a plate on their own.

They don't need fancy toys to have a great time with their friends.

They do. Almost everything seemed to be quite spicy.

I like spicy food but I definitely agree that I would prefer scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. The nicest breakfast I ever had was scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on a toasted bagel. It was at a posh hotel we stopped at when I proposed to my partner.

@JudyEv that's beautiful. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of mine playing in straw.

That scrambled egg plate does sound a bit sparse. I love the picture. Do they use ghee in Nepal rather than butter? I have noticed it turning up in our stores in Kansas USA. I wondered how it compared?

I think they use it in cooking but it wasn't really obvious in any of the meals we had.

They are having fun in the hay. Yes, buttered toast is nice with eggs. Sometimes I like jam or cheese on my toast.

In the mornings at home, I sometimes have jam or cheese. Mostly I skip breakfast. Vince always has Vegemite on his morning toast.

@judyev Always on toast, but not soggy toast. In India I stayed a while in a wonderful place and ordered scrambled eggs each morning and learned to specify that 4 eggs were to be used, not just one. First time I asked for a 4 egg dish the guy said “Oh you Are one very greedy boy mister”.

I would tend to agree there is just something so pleasing about eggs and toast or eggs and bread.
Cute photo!

I suppose they toasted the bread on a grid or in a pan. We never receive toasts already buttered here or in Italy, they bring the toasts and the small squares of packaged butter.
