Breaking news from Australia!

Breaking news, breaking news!! A semi-trailer caught fire on a major Brisbane bridge on the Gateway Motorway last night. What was it carrying? Toilet paper and paper towels! Australians have been panic-buying toilet paper despite attempts by authorities to reassure people that they don’t need to. At the worst, Red Cross would assist affected people who might run out. Stores generally do not stockpile bulky items like toilet paper but get fresh supplies every few days. It only needs a relatively few people to buy extra packets and suddenly the shelves are empty. I have enough toilet paper but I’m a bit worried about our wine supplies. I think we’ll be all right. Wine is produced locally so we should be okay. Do you have enough wine to see you through a fortnight’s isolation? And don’t take all this too seriously. It’s meant to make you smile. The photo is of our own toilet roll. It doesn’t normally look like this. Vince must have been trying to impress me.

@judyev I bought extra today but it's not as fancy as yours. Who has a triangular behind anyway?

@JudyEv Make it oneself? Surely one has a chap for that sort of job?

You don't buy it like that. You have to be creative and make it.

@xFiacre Duh! It takes two folds to create the point. And one 'chap' about the place is quite enough, thank you. Sometimes even that is one too many.

That's true. I guess few of us have been through such a thing before although I guess it's not too much different to preparing for a tornado or whatever.

@JudyEv Always prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I always like to keep at least a month to 6 months of supplies just incase something goes wrong.

In fact comparing to the toilet paper and food, the food shall be much more important. Sometimes I don't understand why people will feel so panic to the toilet paper. Perhaps some people really use a lot of toilet paper everyday? Actually the first news I learned about toilet paper panic is from Hong Kong. I go to the supermarket here and there are plenty of toilet paper with various kinds of brands. Hong Kong is so called as a Shopping Heaven, I don't think it is necessary to feel worried about toilet paper at present.

@JudyEv Sometimes I wonder whether this is a kind of selling way. Such as spreading a rumor that the toilet paper will be run out, and then people will go to buy it and it can make others panic. Since everybody goes to buy the same product at the same time, this can be out of stock In fact there is a funny news about it. There is a robbery who robbed the toilet paper rather than cash when the staff moved the toilet paper to the store I heard its value is about HKD2000

@youless That is funny. I can't see it as a selling point because once you have it, you won't buy more until you need it - so really you don't buy more overall than you would normally.

I thought I had already posted on here as I remembered the reference to toilet paper, but no, it's a different one. I have to say, I think your posts are going down the pan.

You know what? That toilet paper panic buying in Australia was also in our news here. That really sounds crazy. We can still clean our behind with water. So we should not be in a panic.

That's true. Very few toilets here are equipped with a hose at the toilet bowl but everyone would manage somehow or other.

People are nuts with this thing. But hey, I am invested in some of the makers of said products, so I am happy to cash in on some of the madness. As for toilet paper...I think I have plenty. It would be a real crappy situation if I didn't. Too bad all this stuff had to go up in smoke.
