They say . . .

Our special education co op and our district says that we will all be getting our regular checks to the end of the school year, just as if we were working. They say that deductions for our insurance and retirement will continue to be taken out. They say that all students will be able to have a free "grab and go" lunch daily. I say: this is unexpected, but good. I say that this makes sense, because otherwise they would not have any para educators and aides when the quarantine is lifted. They will have found other jobs I say that they are working quickly--there is an online form for parents to fill out to order lunches, and a post about where the meals will be distributed. I say that I will be trying to get lots of things done at home while I have that chance. So it seems that at least locally a lot of thought has gone into our well being.

All schools and pre-schools are closed here and no one over 65 can take care of kids. We finally all stay home, let's hope this helps.

@marlina It will not solve the problem but it should slow down the number of new contaminations.

It is the same here. The business I retired from has limited their employees to a short day 3 times a week and has closed it's doors to the public. But knowing what I do about that business I can see how it will have a not so pleasant impact on them once the quarantines have been lifted. At least for once those who are sick will have ample opportunity to get well.

Most places are doing the exact same thing. It should help contain the virus. I’m glad you will still be paid.

Yes, I thought so. It makes sense though because otherwise people other than the teachers would all be looking for other jobs. The money is in the budget, so this is where it will do the most good.

Here I would say get out in the fresh air and sunshine on your own property, but stay home away from other people.

@GardenGerty Yes. That's the wisest and safest thing to do now. We are actually doing a service to mankind by confining ourselves to home.

Difficult to plan at more than a few days/weeks actually. Our government underestimated the threat, and we have now new laws giving us new rules to follow twice a week. The end of the year is very far.

I think that most government underestimated the threat. I wonder what our government is preparing for the weekend. Today is a holiday here (Father's Day - St.Joseph), tomorrow has been declared a "mandatory non working day" everyone must stay at home. We are going to get even more strict rules.

Our schools were on a week of break when this was decided. Counting weekends that was nine days out of the building. Today, Monday, parts of the staff met in small groups to begin an online learning plan.

The schools here are closed. I haven't heard about free pick up and go lunches, I think it is a great idea. How wonderful of the system to keep paying the employees until the regular school ending. I have no idea what they are doing here.
