Haircuts and COVID-19

The Australian government must be tearing their hair out trying to get control over the coronavirus. They keep coming up with new restrictions which is fine but one new ‘rule’ which was causing a bit of confusion regards hair-dressers who will allowed to continue to trade. However, customers could only spend half-an-hour in a salon. I’m not sure what the ruling is now.
I think the reasoning was that the government wants anyone who can, to continue to work, but they also want to keep the people safe. And our schools, for the most part, have shut now. Gatherings of even two people not from the household are now banned. Heavy fines are promised for those who ignore the directives.
We are continuing to have more and more positive cases and our numbers are advancing at a similar rate to Italy’s which is very worrying. Every country is facing much the same problem.

@judyev Beats me how anyone can spend half an hour in a hairdressers. 10 minutes is the most I’d sit still for and the hairdresser just knows not to chat about the weather to me and just gets on with the job. In Belgium (don’t know how I know this) only one customer in the salon at a time.

'Ladies' might have a perm or have a colour put in which all takes time. I just have a trim now and I have a very nice hairdresser who works alone and her prices are really good. I might have to get Vince to take an inch of my hair one day.

I am also thinking of a haircut because I usually get 1 every month. But with the impending threat of the virus, I guess I will be a hermit for while.

@JudyEv it is better to just let my hair grow than quarrel with people in our home, waheehee.

@JudyEv Men need to remain stylish and upbeat, while they're being quarantined!

A salon is the least likely place that I'll be during this pandemic.

Until things settle down, my brother will be cutting my hair. He has a razor that he uses for his hair. There are several different attachments depending on the hair length you want. My hair is short and he has given me two haircuts already. It's not perfect but he does a great job.

I can't believe you let him get his school picture made without combing his hair first, Judy!
We are in the process of closing down everything we can without depriving anyone of food/water. I'd love it if everything was shut down for a couple of weeks but just because Pretty and I have enough food/drinks on hand to go a couple of months doesn't mean everyone here does. I know several families who have to do shopping every week because they don't have the available money to stock up for a longer period than that.
Oh, the latest version of a stimulus package has passed in the Senate. Now it has to be approved in the House. If it gets approved then every adult American will receive $1,200 as part of that package.
I just checked... the stimulus package was approved and signed into law today.1 person likes this

@JudyEv That is not quite one month's pay for me. So, yes, it should help.

My hair dresser is due to have a C-section soon to deliver her twin girls. I worry about them while the virus is here. The hair salons are closed here now.

Hi Judy! We're number one now withe over 80,000 cases. Barber shops and salons are closed, bars are closed and restaurants can only do takeout. The supermarkets are still open and have plenty of stuff (except toilet paper). In my state of Oregon there are 300 cases, quite a few deaths, but we are fine so far.

Oh wow!! How great to see you again.
Here's a virtual hug!
Are you both well? And what brings you back? But you don't need to answer. Your restrictions sound much like ours but now groups of 2 or more, if not from the same house, can't meet so no jogging, playing golf, riding bikes, at the moment. It will be worth it if they can stop this dreadful pestilence.
Many of our cases can be linked back to cruise ships. Stay safe.

I am glad that the Philippine government is very quick on giving an action, we only have less than 900 cases and that is very small compare to other countries.
We are no rich but we can prevent that as long as we are being united
Kill that viruses

I don't get the 1/2 hour limit in a salon. You can catch the virus in a second.

We in Hawaii have a mandate by Gov. and order by Mayor to stay home. Everything is closed except grocery store, dentist and doctors. We have a 6 ft. zone adherence from each other too. Take out is now the norm or Uber deliveries...foodagogo.org sprang up to help you with it. Visitors quarantined for 14 days. Nothing open, but my hair dresser is opened too so far.

@oahuwriter We saw a little video clip of the middle of Kathmandu, Nepal and it was very eerie. There was no-one in the area at all.

I think salons are shut down here. I am not affected, as I have lost my hair and the remaining is easily cut by my mother or myself. I have bought a hair cutting machine several years ago.

@JudyEv My haircut was never expensive, and when I had hair, I had to go to the barber only once per month. But in the long term, a bit of money was saved like this.

Thank you. I hope you stay safe too. Our son in Melbourne just rang and he is now working from home which is a relief to me. The other son is at the moment helping Vince with a computer glitch but I know he is being very, very careful as his wife is paranoid about the virus.
