Coronavirusville

I told someone here on MyLot I might just do it. That is, rewrite the lyrics to Margaritaville, break out my guitar, my drum kit, and my recording software, and do a parody. It is not to make light of something serious. But sometimes seeing the lighter side of even the most horrible things can help us all to cope a little better. Plus, it is about having fun even when life is telling you that you have to forego it a bit, break from the normal, and be cooped up as a strong suggestion by your government. I wrote the lyrics this morning and recorded the tracks in a few hours. Thought I would share, and hope you have as much fun listening to it as I had recording it. Recorded March 28, 2020.
Not to say that this whole Coronavirus thing has not been something to take seriously, I still think seeing the lighter side of things helps us all to cope better. It has been a trying time for us all

I wrote one years ago for the Clintons to the tune of "Let It Snow." I doubt Hillary would have liked it.

Great parody. Sound good too. You ever considered recording an album? I don't mean parodies. Real album. Though an album of parodies would be nice too. Unless you already have one.

@porwest This reminds me there was a band called Garbage. Maybe it still exists.

I actually did a few years ago. Not sure I would call it a "real" album. The music I write is certainly alternative. But surprisingly the album has done well enough. I guess there is a market out there for garbage.

@porwest You have nothing to worry about. Jimmy is probably quarantined in Key West, FL or somewhere in Margaritaville right now...

@dgobucks226 You are right. He's got one or two or five of those concoctions rendered in his blender to keep him focused on things other than little old me borrowing his song.

Yeah, I am not sure what the cat's issue might be. But I always have liked the GIF. Thanks for the complements on the song. It's been a while since I have done a "full-on" recording so it was kind of fun to get back to some of that too. I hope Jimmy Buffet doesn't come looking for me.

@CarolDM Finally got a chance to get over there and check out the contributions. Glad to see, despite all of this misery, people can still find some levity in all of this. I think it is healthy.

@Berniezeitler It sure does help. If all we see is the gloom and doom and misery and suffering, no one can take that all day long and come out on the other end sane.

No. BUT a LOT of politics unfortunately has been injected into this thing. For whatever that's worth. Here are the lyrics if that helps: There ain't no pork steak, and I can't catch no break, all of the hoarders have taken it all. All of the TP, is wiped out completely, don't know what I'll do in my bathroom stall. (Chorus) Wasting away here in Coronavirusville. Locked in my house and I can't get out. Some people claim that there's China to blame. But those dems, say it's all Trump's fault. Don't know the reason, I get it ain't pleasing. This malady's got people unglued. Oh, it's a real doozie, all over the news feed, word on the street that it's not just the flu. All our money went flip-flop, went to hell in a hot drop, when Dow Jones fell like a stone. Now all of our savings, from decades of slaving, has been blown away and now it's all gone.

I also like to write satire in my fan fictions. I always tell my followers if my work offends you, take it with a grain of salt since laughter is the best medicine.
