Whats for dinner? I discovered something quick and inexpensive at my Japanese place!

My favorite local Japanese restaurant still has take out, and I was browsing their on-line menu the other day when I discovered a "two sushi" special for only $7. I think that's less than I spent on my Taco Bell #3 meal the other day. I usually get a "Bento Box" from that place, but the cost (in the evening) is around $24, including tax. The main difference is teriyaki steak or no teriyaki steak. I do splurge and get a cup of miso soup for an extra $1.50 with my new special, but the cost is still under $10. What's on your dinner menu for tonight? Do you eat sushi? Any new discoveries? By the way, the two rolls pictured are spicy tuna roll and California roll.

Yesterday I prepared a Green Thai chicken curry with steamed Basmati rice. Tonight I am going to make cod with cherry tomatoes, onion, garlic, capers and black olives. I will serve bruschetta bread with the cod and a green salad as side dish. Yes I like sushi, I make them, but now I am preparing nothing that use raw ingredients.

@TheHorse I prefer to cook the ingredients hoping that the high heat would kill the germs. I would not eat sushi for sure, you must use your bare hands to roll sushis. My favorite Thai curry is the orange curry, with fish and chicken. I only use red with red meats and I do not have beef in the fridge right now.

Do you think that raw ingredients are more likely to support "the virus"? Both meals sound good by the way. My default curry is red curry. I should try some green.

@LadyDuck Even red curry duck is good. But I see your logic. I also heat stuff up to a boil when I make it.

I think dinner is going to be left over dinner from last night. I only know one Japanese place near me and I usually get the Tempura and Ramen. I'm not a big fan of Sushi

You can get sushi that's not "raw fish." I have several favorites.

@Bensen32 I have certain "comfort foods" as well. Tonight, I'm going with "chicken soup" (Ramen) with minimal enhancements

@TheHorse My son and daughter like it and they have gotten a few different kinds that I have tried and I don't know some were okay others not so much. I usually stick to what I know and like. I will try other things but usually just go back to what I like.

@AmbiePam When I lived in a small town in Iowa, I had to travel 20 miles to get good Chinese food, and 60 miles to get good Thai food. I never did find a satisfactory Japanese restaurant.

@TheHorse In fact making it at home is also costy as the salmon and shrimps are expensive. Of course my labor to make it is free of charge

@TheHorse I usually have two orders whenever I eat at a Japanese restaurant. There's something about miso soup that makes it different from other soups.

I miss eating Japanese! I could definitely go for a tonkatsu curry right now. My guilty sushi pleasure is terribly inauthentic, but I've seen it at a few places -- the Philadelphia roll. It's smoked salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese inside of the roll.

What exactly is tonkatsu? I'm not sure that it's on my radar screen. I've had Philadelphia roll--pretty good, but I like Alaska roll better!
