I picked corn because I love everything "corny" - cornbread, corn on-the-cob, corn chips...you name it!
Corn is an annual cereal grain with elongated ears of starchy seeds. There are 6 different types of corn (also called maize), which are sweet corn - used for human consumption, field corn - used for animal feed, popcorn, dent corn - used for animal feed, corn chips, corn flour (masa), moonshine and bourbon, flint corn - (also called Indian corn or calico corn) used for decorative purposes, cornmeal, corn flour, hominy, polenta and grits, heirloom corn - used for moonshine, grits (by some top chefs) and bourbon.
Maize was first domesticated in southern Mexico about 10,000 years ago.
Some of the other products made from corn are dextrose, corn oil, cornstarch, corn syrup and corn ethanol (for fuel).
What are your favorite ways to eat corn?

If you have ever watched the TV show "Iron Chef" you might remember this episode. The key ingredient was corn. One of the chefs roasted an ear corn and slathered it with butter and gave it to the judges. One of the judges said "It's like you're making fun of us. It's like you're saying corn taste so good you don't have to do much to it." The chef nods and says "Yes. That was why I served it this way. Corn is that good!"

Corn on the cob will always be my favorite way to eat corn!
Your post today made me think of the Luke Bryan song, "Rain is a Good Thing."
"Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey. Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little frisky..."
