Against Their Rights?

Good morning/afternoon/evening all. I just woke up about an hour ago and I'm drinking coffee while mylotting. Daisy is all curled up under her blanket in her comfort bed. She is laying in her bed more and more. When my brother came home from work last night, he had stopped by Walgreens on his way home. There was a security guard at the door and wasn't letting anyone come in without a mask. My brother didn't think anything about it so he went to his car and got a mask. He went back to the door and there were customers there giving the security guard a hard time. They said it was against their rights to have to wear a mask and that the government isn't going to tell them what to do. What is wrong with these people? Don't they realize that's its not only for Walgreens employees safety but for theirs too? This is crazy! Have you heard of this happening where you live?

Stupidity seems to be running rampant among far too many people. Those idiots didn't even realize that Walgreens isn't the government and has every right to refuse service to people who do not follow THEIR rules.

Our state is following the guidelines and believe others should, too. Masks do not protect us, but they protect others from getting the virus. Those who don’t follow the CDC and state guidelines are covidiots in my book.

I hate to see people take out their anger on someone just doing their job. So far, places like Walgreens, at least here, don't require a mask to come in. However, places like hair and nail salons have signs on the door warning that you can't enter without a mask, which I have no problem with.

I agree the poor guy was just doing his job. I would wear a mask no matter where I went and like you, I don't have a problem with anyone requiring a mask.

I know that I get upset and a bit angry at the whole virus thing, but its more of a feeling of defeat for me, that I have to follow these rules, for an unspecified time, lashing out at anyone will do no good. We have a saying up here that has grown in popularity since this began, we're in this together. And we need to remember that and let our actions indicate that.

@simone10 I really cannot see people wearing masks all of the time when they go out, but certainly while this is still prevalent and probably during cold and flu season going forward.

@Juliaacv I will do whatever I need to do to be safe and keep my brother safe. I'm supposed to go to pain management tomorrow for injections and im calling today to cancel. I'm not worried about myself but I am worried that I could bring something home to my brother. He has a heart condition, asthma and he's a diabetic so he would have a hard time if he got sick.

@simone10 There are places where it is mandatory to wear masks, inside the stores, on the trains, bus and public transport, of course not inside a restaurant, but the waiters must wear the mask.

I've seen this on tv and people ranting about it on Facebook. I don't understand why they feel they can ignore the fact that this virus is serious business and a mask isn't requested to take away their rights.

Yes, this is happening all over the place. But whether it is or isn't against the person's "rights," businesses have the right to deny customers entrance to their establishments if they don't meet their established guidelines. That's the' "right" of the business to do so.

@simone10 But the funny thing is, even if they go somewhere else, those other businesses are going to require the same thing. So the grumpy customer who doesn't want to comply with social distancing and mask wearing is going to find that they are having a really frustrating day trying to shop. It would be much easier if they just put on the damn mask the first time and be done with it.

The interesting thing I heard about this was, yes it is your right not to wear a mask. However, if you intentionally infect others by not wearing a mask, that is a crime. Businesses are allowed to set rules for entry. If people don't like it, go to another store.

Unfortunately yes, and crazy people shooting up places and people because the dining room is closed or beating up someone who wants us to wear a mask. We wear seat belts, we know "No shirt, no shoes, no service" and also that businesses have the right to refuse service if they so choose. Stupid people wasting time and energy.

Nobody has a "right" to enter a commercial premise if the management of that establishment sees good reason for not allowing them to. A coffee shop (if that is what Walgreens is - I don't know the name) is not a public space.

@andriaperry Masks aren't required right now so they have the right not to wear one. But in the same token, Walgreens has the right to require a mask. If they don't like it, they should go to another store.
