The Evening Shift is a Killer

So I didn't post yesterday as it was hubby's work night and he also had the following night to work (tonight).
We stayed up too late last night (now night before last) after he got home around 1 am but he was a bit worried. After midnight I had heard somebody outside, perhaps on the street that runs in front of our house. It was loud and clear and said, "Hurry up and come on" in an aggravated tone. One of the roosters was crowing like someone was trying to get him so I got the pistol out of the drawer and a flashlight and headed outside to see what was going on. The chicken coops were first checked and the doors were not open so I scanned the yard and also went around the other side of the house to the front. There were no cars at the stop signs and I couldn't see any cars down the road but I didn't go to the street to look. I think the flashlight shining up through the front scared them off when I first went out.
Needless to say, my hubby didn't sleep much at all and was up until 6 am. I first woke up at 7 am and said, "No Way" and got back in bed. Everyone slept late. That didn't give me much time to do anything with the garden expansion so today will be time for catching up! It seems like it is time to get in gear and get him off to work with this shift. On the other hand, I don't have an alarm clock going off in the wee hours of the morning and he doesn't work all night so I'll stop complaining right now!
So all is good and work is now over until next week. I believe there is only one more night of work this month. YAY!
Time to get some sleep. Good morning to all of you early risers!

Hopefully it was just someone walking on the street (maybe their car broke down, they didn't have a ride so they had to walk, etc) and not someone trying to steal your chickens or break in to your home. Thankfully, you have a pistol for protection, and a police officer who can personally stand guard for you! lol

Working at night shift is a burden to the health.

@Alexandoy Law enforcement officers have been through various training to know how to handle situations like that.

@kareng yes, I agree with the training but the risk is always there.

@Alexandoy Risk is everywhere. Every time you get on the road, enter a public place; you are at some kind of risk.

Glad everything was ok when you went out. My rooster crows at all times of the day and night.

@wolfgirl569 LOL. Mine mimics the hens too when they are laying. I think putting the other rooster over to the other coop has helped somewhat. They didn't fight much but there was the "I'm the master" attitude.

@kareng He is also the loudest cackling when a hen lays an egg. He is amusing which helps me tolerate his bad attitude.

@LindaOHio Usually they are unless they figured it out that there was no problem.

With all the tension it is a scary time. You are very brave and practical to check.

Glad they left. I heard something this morning around 1am too. But I don't think it was someone trying to get in. It sounded like the neighbor which was a little strange.

Good that it's only one more night to work this week. You can get enough rest after that and also catch up with things that you need to. Glad that roosters were safe.

That's really hurt to health. My husband can't stand night shift any more and changed his job this year.
