It is only nowadays that I appreciate chilis... When I am a bit younger, I don't. But still not that much..

Thanks Marie. I cannot put cheese on it because that is mixing milk product with meat. My crockpot is only used for meat things. I am going to have mine with rice.

I cannot eat it with macaroni. That is mixing milk and meat together and cannot do that. It is with rice and no macaroni.

One of my favorite since I was young, we call it " chili con carne " here. How do you soften up the beans?

@louievill
I start out with frying the meat then transfer it to the crockpot and put all the ingredients including the kidney beans in the crockpot and let it cook and that is how they soften.

@Hannihar so you are using canned beans? With dried beans we need to soak it overnight and use a pressure cooker to soften it up.

Since it is just me I get lucky. That was the first time I made it and it turned out fine. I am not that good at cooking but I like to improvise too when cooking. I have not made meatloaf here in ages and someone mentioned here that they made it so I decided to make it and added different things and made it my own and it is good. I made it in the crockpot. I did not have some things so used other stuff. It made it my own. It is good.

It is very good to plan ahead. Do be aware that if you freeze it, some of the spices will become more intense.

Thank you, but, I always freeze the main dishes I make so can have them each week for my Sabbath meal.

It looks very good. I love chili but mostly I have canned chili because I don't want to make a lot of chili just for myself.
