Question of The Day- Summer Plans?

Do you plan on traveling anywhere this summer? I was planning a trip out to see my brother in North Carolina (U.S.) but have decided to wait and see what happens with the virus. It seems there has been a spike in cases recently which has me worried about traveling away from home. A reduction in the number of infected people might be a reason to reconsider my decision. Would you take the chance of going on a vacation with the recent increase in infections? If you are delaying like me what factors would change your mind? Or will you be traveling regardless? @FayeHazel Right now I'd just like to go eat out at my favorite pub, lol. I would like to see some sights. Historical stuff always gets my interest. The last trip I took was to Pennsylvania to see Longwood Gardens, Brandywine Battlefield, and the Du Pont gunpowder mills in Delaware. The second time I've been to Longwood Gardens and I've visited Gettysburg National Park twice. How about you?

I plan to travel during the summer here in Serbia, before the end of the summer I also planned to go to Greece, in the fall, we will see what the situation will be both financially and related to this virus because they announced another wave in which I sincerely doubt it will be

Definitely need to be cautious if another wave hits. Are the conditions in Serbia ok for travel and visiting different sights there? Some states are having spikes in the U.S. so I'm going to take a wait and see approach.

@dgobucks226 Yes, everything has been normal here for a long time. Mostly when we travel we choose to be places in nature, where there are not many people, so it can not endanger us, we would do more harm to ourselves sitting closed inside 4 walls than going to a waterfall or somewhere in untouched nature to walk ... I certainly don't like crowds, I live in the capital and I'm sick of people in general

I'm at an age where traveling is not attractive unless it's just around my neck of the woods. I like to go to Las Cruces NM to shop and I also bring my recycle stuff there, by the time I've done all that I'll have traveled approx 100 miles including the trip back home. It's a nice excursion for me but that's as far as I want to go. What can I say, at 70 100 miles is like 300 miles for you.

Getaway maybe but not a vacation @dgobucks226 I actually enjoy being able to stay home, it was my dream when I had to work all the time.

NO plans at all, for sure we will not go out from the Swiss borders. We could make some daily excursions, I do not intend to sleep in a hotel, the virus is still around.

@LadyDuck Yes, I am too worried to dine out. I've only ordered pizza from take out. Forget about staying at a hotel right now.

Yes that is a good point about staying in a hotel. Until things sort themselves out I guess I too will stay close to home..

If I were you, I'd do the same. I'd want to wait until things get under control before I go on long trips. Firstly, I wouldn't want to put myself at risk by having to use public service areas and restaurants. Secondly, I wouldn't want to make the people having me feel uncomfortable and insecure. The worst thing about this virus is that it's highly contagious and it doesn't show symptoms immediately.

Very good advice. Public service areas are definitely at risk. I will adopt a wait and see attitude until more is known.

@dgobucks226 Yes, that would be much safer. I think we'll be able to spend more time outdoors but there is still a need to be cautious as people can spread the virus without showing any symptoms and the virus can stay active on hard surfaces for several days. Let's enjoy the summer but stay safe!

Sorry to hear. But better safe than getting the virus. Especially after all those protests I imagine we will see many more virus cases.

I have not traveled anywhere in ages. When I came back to the US it was the first time I had left Europe in about 20 years and it seemed strange to me to be leaving the European continent to never return. When summer comes I am now living where the beach is to the right and the river to the left and I will just take walks there

@dgobucks226 I can see why you are putting off your trip to visit your brother. I am just trying to get through each day and that is hard enough. I usually do not travel anywhere even here in the summer. I like to stay home.

Thank you! I plan on waiting now with all these protests recently in the U.S. Many more people will certainly be infected with the virus. Hopefully, sometime in the future it will be safer to go...
