Some of you may remember me talking about my fourth of July plans that involve my family and me going to a "resort" where my dad's family meets up, and has been doing for 38 years! Well, I have two Chihuahuas, so I need someone to take care of them while I am gone for several days (July 2nd through 6th). I am leaving Sadie with one of my friends who runs a rescue. I am leaving Annabelle with a guy in my dad's church, and I feel good about him watching Annabelle. It's funny how he won't watch his brother's dog when his brother goes out of town, but he'll keep mine! When you go out of town, who watches your children or your pets? Certainly, people bring their kids with them when they travel, but adults need alone time too. When my parents would go out of town without my sister or me we'd stay with a couple at our church. What did you do, or what did your parents do?

Roomie will be doing cat duty while I am gone. I am leaving on the second as well. I will have to check in with him periodically though..because the cat was hiding under the bed when I got back last time and wouldn't come out. I will have to make sure he touches base with the cat everyday, and knows where he is when I get home, so I am not in panic mode.

The Virus has chewed up our vacation plans and spit them out. We are for sure staying home. Last year a friend of ours was unemployed so she appreciated the money we gave her for watering the gardens, caring for the dogs, cats and outside birds. Big job but she did well. And she got some ripe strawberries, too!

I'm glad you have people to take care of your dogs. I went to a writer's conference in Minnesota many years ago. I needed to leave Rascal with someone. Now this person had cats, and my big bruising border collie was intimidated by that little cat. My friend said it was so funny to see him cowering under the table from the cat. This is Rascal.

Nice! I'm happy you go on the 4th of July with family. I don't think I knew you have 2 Chihuahuas :-) That's awesome. I'm happy you got pet sitters, other wise I'd do it if I were closer :-)

They'd love you! I have had Annabelle since she was a puppy, and she's 9 now. I thought Annabelle needed a friend, so the day before Thanksgiving last year I adopted 7 year old Sadie. And Sadie is the boss of all of us.

@FayeHazel Short hair. I think Sadie has a UTI so we're going to make a trip to the vet before my vacation.

When we used to go away we took our dog to a boarding farm. She loved it out there and it made leaving much easier on us.

We had no children and no pets and it was a personal decision because we traveled a lot when we were younger. My parents left my brother and I with our grandmother, she lived with us.

We have a local place that boards dogs and they take wonderful care of them. It's easy to leave them there without having any worries. Glad that you found people to watch your pups while you're away.

It was very rare for us to travel without our children, but when we did, my parents watched them and the animals.

I always went with my parents on their trips. We no longer have any dogs. :-( When we did, we had a very good kennel to take them to; but now it's been closed; and another person has taken over the house. :-(

You got an enjoyable out coming plans and your chihuahuas are so lucky that you are thinking to whom you will leave and take care of them for a while. For me,no special plans hanging out due to this virus we are still experiencing right now.

We have a housemaid who takes care of our 3 dogs when we go abroad. Sometimes we ask our laundrywoman to stay for company of our maid. For local trips, we try to find accommodation that allows pets so we can bring them along.
