I make my own, I do not like a lot ready mixes, they contain maltodextrine, palm oil, caramel syrup... all things that I do not want to use.

I do not know how to make good gravy either and thus have to use the "cheating" gravies that can be found on the shelves in grocery stores. Gravy is a big part of my southern heritage, but it is something I have never been good at making. I have used mushroom gravy with beef but not with chicken. I have used mushroom soup to make a chicken pot pie type of meal before.

I don't really use many mixes for gravy but I probably would use a mix if I needed to. Making my own was never successful for me.

I haven't used any instant mix for years. Don't think I'd even heard of instant mushroom mix before! I'm not very good at making gravy - I either make it really watery or I don't make enough! Occasionally, I will get it right. I'll use stock cube or stock pot and add mustard powder to thicken it.

We make our own sauces here. I think the best sauces makes use of the marinade. When my sister fries chicken, I always ask her to keep the marinade so I could boil its liquids along with the gravy.

I haven't tried this mushroom mix. I don't think it's available at local supermarkets. What I do is dilute condensed cream of mushroom. If I could find lots of fresh mushrooms here, I'd probably make the sauce from scratch..
