What's for dinner tonight?

I was going to get sushi the other evening, but realized that I was REALLY hungry. It was the day I went into Berkeley and wound up bartering about stereo gear. Instead of sushi I ordered Terikaki chicken with veggies and rice. The cost was $9, one dollar more than my sushi special. Of course, it was delicious, and I had leftovers to graze on for the next couple of days. Do you generally have leftovers when you order out or make something for dinner? As today is my day of atonement (see JJ's recent post), I will fast, with a few breaks for eating and drinking inbetween.

I'm having buttermilk-marinated chicken tenders. Sides to be determined.

I usually do not have leftovers, I cook the quantity that I know is enough for the two of us. This looks like a lot of food.

@marlina My husband is not a fan, there are things that I make in larger quantities (lasagne, stews, soups) but I always freeze the leftover to be served several days later.

What would your sushi special have been? $8 seems too little for sushi. I had teriyaki chicken yesterday. It was the frozen pack from Trader Joe's. I just boiled rice to go along with it and made fresh cabbage salad. The chicken was pretty good. I'd get it again.

I'm scared of frozen teriyaki chicken. Trauma, and all that. The sushi is an eight-piece California Roll and an eight-piece Spicy Tuna Roll. Pretty yummy.

@TheHorse I never bought frozen cooked chicken before the pandemic. It's good to have when there is nothing to eat at home.

Only stale bread and water, that's all you're allowed today Yes, I always have leftovers from a restaurant meal, that lasts for at least another meal. I'm making a meatloaf for supper.

It's hard for me on days like today as my husband was working nights. He gets up a little earlier when it was his last night shift, but I don't have a clue as to whether he is in dinner mode or breakfast mode. There are some left overs in the fridge that should get eaten.

@TheHorse If I tell him it's in there. Yesterday, after working the night shift Sunday night, he had 3 bowls of cereal yesterday... one when he got home from work, one when he got up from sleeping half the day, and one for dinner. I'm tired of catering to this group. I said I was going to make a crock pot dinner tonight but got a bunch of claims that "I might not be here" from the family members. So I won't bother.

@TheHorse and @fluffy69 , Humba is a pork meat, with added of some ingredients such as soy sauce, vinegar, seasoning to taste, salt to taste, sugar to taste, banana flower, banana fruit(sliced), sweet pineapple juice, sliced union bulb, chopped garlic, black beans, black pepper(leaf & seeds, Laurel). Boiled first the pork meat until soft and add all the ingredients. Yummy food with rice.

Mm looks very good and plenty to eat! This particular dish, if leftover, I'd just rewarm it. When a meat dish like roast, I'd just rewarm and if potato all eaten, I'd roast one at home or French fries added. I've made my favorite stuffed bell peppers. I got 2 more halves to roast and either eat or freeze. I got extra large peppers.

I think I'll have my Marie Callendar meal that's country fried pork with mashed potatoes and gravy. I have a freezer full of micoslave meals. I'll have green beans with it. When I cook, yeh I usually have leftovers since now I only have myself to cook for.
